One of my favourite things about doing self portraits in the wild is allowing the earth to hold me. The feeling of the sand on my skin, or the tree bark, or the rain on my face. It's truly a therapeutic experience where I am reminded that we ARE nature. The same atoms and dust course through our veins - and we hold a responsibility to nurture this planet that we have long sine abandoned. So when I am held by the earth I try to remember that responsibility - try to allow that emotion to refill in my heart so that I can take it and use it in my every day life. Because, in the great words of Robin Kimmerer “To love a place is not enough. We must find ways to heal it.”
