With writing for Book 2 now going on, I wanted to do a little teaser video. I sat down last night, cracked open a bottle of wine and spent a little time setting it up.
It touches on some of the themes of the next book, and some of the systems I need to build.
First of all, the Kingdom management system. I'm drawing inspiration from Pathfinder: Kingmaker here, both in terms of the world map, and the little side problems you need to deal with. Some parts of what they do I like, some parts less so... we'll see if I can find a balance.
The second big element is the world map; it'll start out sparse, but hopefully fill up as the book progresses. I wanted a mix of guaranteed events and random events, as well as places of varying degrees of danger the player can go and play cards (similarly to the portal in Book 1).
Finally, the army/ally system; building your army, recruiting components to it, equipping it, and forging alliances with other power-structures. Most of that will be a bit bare-bones in the first couple of Acts, but hopefully it'll be fun once it's done :)
To win this war, it's not enough to be a Hero... you must become a King.
