Molly does the splits
Added 2020-05-15 06:49:46 +0000 UTCOne of my Discord regulars shared this little picture, mentioning it was almost identical to Molly. Plugging it into Google Reverse image gets us this lady; Yanochka Kuzmina, a Russian model and dancer. And yeah, she looks good.
It's an interesting test; I've never gotten Volumetric lighting to look good before, so I decided to set up a test. The angle's not quite the same (I didn't want to bother with the window, and I went with a polished granite floor, giving me those gorgeous reflections along the top of her legs. A Depth of Field effect is used to blur the far wall, but you can notice another reflection there.
Lighting wise, there's actually 4 sources here; there's a HDRI light-map that provides the base fill, a spotlight directed at her face (45 degrees offset from the camera, on the left side). That's the one that's getting that pop of green in her eyes. There's another, smaller, spot above and behind her, giving the rim lighting effect. And finally the volumetric light in the background. It's actually lighting the world, rather than her, but it provides the feeling that there should be a strong light-source that direction.
The final image got a quick pass in Photoshop to bring it to pop; the main picture is at 2k wide, so you can zoom in and see the difference.
