I also want to say that the future implications for Takopi are scary asf with the end of ep. 2. I‘m afraid that Takopi now thinks that it could be alright to potentially kill someone again for Shizuka-chans happiness.

While we naturally sympathise with Shizuka-Chan for being bullied, not having a father and an absolutely uncaring mother. We certainly get to sympathise with Marina-chan as well. It’s not „just“ her being hit that’s her trauma. It’s her family falling apart and she blames Shizuka-Chans mom for it. Marina-chans mother changed because her husband started seeing another woman, that woman being Shizukas mom. The mother of marina-chan also began dumping all her frustrations and misery on Marina-chan by asking her if she’s on her side and if she will also always do everything she says. This whole Psychological burden got dumped on her. Her mother a wreck, her father with shizuka-chans mom, her home destroyed. First and foremost is Marina-chan still a child that doesn’t know how to regulate her emotions and doesn’t know who really is to blame. She blames Shizuka-chans mom and can’t really differentiate between the two of them. So she let‘s all her anger and frustration out on Shizuka-Chan. That is absolutely not the right thing to but very understandable and realistic for a child who doesn’t really know how to act because her home got shattered. While most (I certainly did) people might have felt relieved that Marina-chan died. I do think because of your excitement you maybe missed the twisted and perverted scene that you just witnessed. A child died and another child got so excited that she even said her dream came true. However horrible Marina-chan acted towards Shizuka-chan she was still only a child blinded by anger and the feeling to save her family and majority of people would do a lot to save their loved ones. Marina-chan never really had the chance to understand the whole situation. At school she sees the enemy and at home she sees a wreck and gets trauma dumped by her mother, we know that because Marina-chan talked about a new ring for her mother. Most kids their age wouldn’t even think about their parents getting new wedding rings. Marina-chan did horrible things and deserves consequences for that but death is certainly too much for a child, especially of her age.
