Despite him being the mc, we never hear his inner thoughts before now. But now we get to hear it, and we see that he's seriously suffering to the point of breaking down into tears. And then as soon as he comes back, he puts back on the "everything is fine" mask. The even crazier thing is, this clearly isn't his full backstory.
