I hated Sakura so much when I first watched this show at ~ 19. Now at 23 and rewatching this part in particular (i remember feeling so disturbed by her behavior) I honestly don't feel the same way. The commenter is right, we saw how horrified Sakura looked after being reminded of the "promise." She genuinely thought in that moment Naruto was risking everything for her. Her solution was awful and disrespectful to Naruto - but it makes sense when you remember she's 16. A literal child surrounded by death and destruction, plagued by powers she can't understand who already lost the love of her life and childhood best friend; and scrambling to keep the other one safe. They're just so young man.

As a woman myself, cultural things in japanese manga/anime like female characters who punch male characters for "comedic" scenes seem so wrong, for example. Because it won't happen if we switch the characters. In the case of the character of Sakura and her development, Kishimoto had make so many mistakes. I'm ok with her being annoying in the first part if she grows up in Shippuden, and it was the case with the fight against Sasori and... that's all. Such a waste... I think she had potential, I like her at the end of Shippuden and in the future, but you are at the peak of Sakura's wrong shits for the moment. Sorry for my english, it's always tricky for me ! :)
