kekkei genkai isnt only visual (although sharingan and byakugan are) its a jutsu that you inherit and is passed down through your family line that no one else can learn unless you have the genes... or in orochimaru's case takes over your body. another example of kekkei genkai is haku (the ice guy at the beginning of the show). Sharingan is powerful because it allows the user to copy jutsu of other ninja excluding kekkei genkai hence why kakashi couldnt copy haku
