The rabbit tangent is sending me😭

Apart from being a horror, this film succeeds in immersing you into the historical time period the film is set in. Sure the story is mostly set in the woods, but the screenplay , the acting and the direction is a testament to the power of suspension of disbelief. I absolutely love it and I wish I could watch it afresh all over again.

Hi Caitlin! Sorry I didn't see this earlier today. On Wednesdays I have to go into the office for work and didn't get home until around 4:30pm. See you tomorrow (Thurs) for more It takes Two with Cassie! :)

Steven Bucchieri

Steven! I got a package from you in my PO Box, are you going to be at stream today?

So this was my first time watching this movie along with you, and damn!! That was something. I'm not sure how I exactly feel about the move tho....I did enjoy it, but it's hard for me to rate it or what tier to put it in. VVitches be crazy!

Steven Bucchieri

I see this as a net positive, Thomasin is now living deliciously

You should totally check out the lighthouse, it’s from the same director but it’s a much better movie in my opinion and even more bizarre, Robert Pattinson and Willam Defoe are amazing in it, feel it would make a fun watch!!

I know you mentioned that you don't like watching movies with subtitles unless they're foreign, but the movies by Robert Eggers are definitely some rare examples of English-language movies that's still need them. Man's desire for historical accuracy knows no bounds and even though this is one of my favorite horror movies, I can still only catch like a quarter of what they're saying without them. Kudos to you for soldiering through without them!

*SPOILER* In case you hadn't guessed it, she sold her soul to Satan/Lucifer/black Phillip at the end. (BTW really creepy and sad to me at the end when she is floating up and her eyes and upper face go dark as she gives in). To be fair though, she lost her whole family and if she went into town for help, she probably would be accused of witchcraft and put to death. So a no-win situation really...

This is probably my favorite horror movie. I Love how everything in this is design to make you feel uneasy and with the sensation that something is out there and wrong. Even though we dont see much of the witch, her presence is always lurking, always there. Robert Eggers is a Master of building tension. The cinematography is impecable and the score drives you to that uncertain place which just adds to the whole unsettling vibe. At first watch, you May find a but ambigous if Thomasin was a witch or not but in a second watch, you pick so many small details of how she is constantly teased by the dread of being the oldest Sister in that environment. The scene where she jokes about being the witch to mercy was just her repeating folk tale to scare her Sister who was driving her nuts after all the misbehaving and singing and in The end, she was accuses by her whole family, discarted as the rotten one and tragically loses everything and goes into black philip to seek Answers and some sort of comfort. Btw, the diretor of this also made the new Nosferatu. Really recommend it as it is a great horror as well.

So I'm probably the worst at symbolism, but something hit me like a diamond bullet on this my third watch. When Thomasin kills her mom I'd always thought how unfortunate for the blood to drizzle on Thomasin's upper lip and form a kind of mustache. Then it hit me... That's the RABBIT!! Lol, anyway thanks for the great reaction on one of my favorite films. Cheers.

Literally my fave horror movie of all time holy shit

I did not appreciate this movie during my first watch. But this film grew on me! I think it taps into family trauma and how witchcraft can affect the vulnerable.

Brandon Curtsinger

Katy Eleanor

nathan h

love this movie. there is a great 'complete guide' to this movie on yt with answers to all those why are they like this questions that pop up.

Yesss! Bob Eggers! He makes some bangers. He did the Northman which was stellar and he did the new Nosferatu! His knack for getting the accuracy of historical settings right is mind blowing and in The Witch, there is an eerieness that is anxiety fuel! Not to mention Anya-Taylor Joy's performance. She steals the show. But an honorable mention is Ralph Ineson's character! His demise is well... It's fitting to say the least! I think, or at least hope, you'll enjoy this. I better get on it and a few backlog reactions before March!

Raj Hudek

OMG thank you for doing this before the full reactions stop. One of my favorites

Randy Villarreal

Yas queen also question, what happened to the 2020-2021 dunkin' donuts era?♡♡

Charlie

Literally one of my favourite horror films of all time. I was put off for ages by it because I never really liked films with old English accents because I'm weird. So glad I watched it in the end.

Jacob Mescam

AH OH MY GOD SAY WHAT?!?! YESSSS

Ralph Ineson could narrate the dictionary and it would be worth listening to.
