As I announced in my last article on the back of shoes, I've made an article on how to draw each type of shoe!

In the previous article I explained slip-ons, and now here they are!

The types of shoes I prepared are...
These are! These are the four most popular and often drawn~!
I would like to explain how to draw these four types of shoes, based on the previous lecture!

How to draw leather shoes
Finally
I would like to start by showing you how to draw shoes, but there is one area that many people have trouble with when drawing sneakers...
I don't really understand the structure of the shoelaces, so I end up doing it all wrong! I have heard many people say, "I don't know what the laces are made of, so I just put them on randomly!
So, first of all, we would like to give you a brief explanation of the structure of shoelaces!

You may often see shoelaces like this on sneakers, and the laces that are crossed and braided like this are called "lace-ups.
Generally, they come in a set with a metal fixture called a "dovetail" through which the laces are threaded.
In some cases, there is only a hole in the fabric.
↓Here is a video showing the structure of a lace-up.

You can see that the red and blue strings are connected and woven together in a zigzag pattern.
If you couldn't understand it after watching the video, I suggest you actually try to draw through the shoelaces to see the structure!
Even if you can draw this shoelace part, it will be a sneaker like that~!
Here you go! Finally, let's get down to the main topic, how to draw shoes!
First, let's take a look at the characteristics of high-tech sneakers!

High-tech sneakers are, as the name "high-tech" suggests, highly functional sneakers. The cushioning in the sole is perhaps the most distinctive feature. Each brand offers a variety of designs, but basically, you will often see a trapezoidal silhouette. Toe springs are also often high.
↓The way to draw it is like this!

For sneakers, you can draw the shoelaces last to keep the sneakers in balance! Also, the soles of high-tech sneakers are often thicker, so it's a good idea to be aware of that as well!
Next, let's look at everyone's favorite low-tech sneakers!
There are many more simple designs than high-tech sneakers, and they are popular among men and women of all ages.
Let's start with their features!

Low-tech has a flat appearance compared to high-tech. To give you an example, Converse's low-techs are probably the most famous! Toe springs are often understated.
↓The way to draw it is like this!

If you lower the upper part (instep) compared to high-tech, it will look like that at once! The trick is to make the gap between the silhouette of the shoe and the silhouette of the foot smaller, as if the fabric is also thin!
How to draw pumps
Next, let's look at how to draw pumps! There are high heeled and low heeled pumps, but we often see high heeled ones in illustrations.
The higher the heel, the more the difficulty is proportional to the heel 😭
Let's take a quick look at the features!

When heels are higher, the foot inevitably takes the form of a toe stand. In that case, the instep of the foot bulges out, doesn't it?
The crucial heel part is basically perpendicular to the ground.
Toe springs may be found in a variety of forms, from high to low.
↓ As for how to draw it, it looks like this!

The trick is to draw it so that it wraps around the back of the heel! By making the instep look wider, it looks more like a pump. We recommend that you draw a gentle curve at the bottom of the foot. The soles of the shoes should be thin to create a beautiful silhouette.
Leather shoes are also very popular! They are often seen in illustrations as a set with suits.
Here are the features!

The slender and stylish shape is a distinctive feature of leather shoes, isn't it?
Leather shoes have a part of the sole that protrudes, called the "buckle. This is the part where the sole protrudes. Since it is leather, the overall impression is also characterized by its flatness.
As with pumps, toe springs may be found in a variety of styles, from high to low.
↓ As for how to draw, here's what it looks like!

To make the toe longer and a little more pointed than the silhouette of the foot, you can make it look like that!
The trick is to make the upper part of the foot look smooth and less uneven.

Lastly, let's talk about the shoe's bite!
The trick to drawing the bite is to draw the center line of the shoe! By drawing the center line, it will be harder to lose the shape of the shoe even at difficult angles. It is a good idea to find the center line from the foot that is the foundation of the shoe.
Also, if you have a good grasp of the shoe's features at the time of drawing the shoe's bite, you will be able to draw it easier with fewer stray lines, so I recommend that you be aware of this!
And that's all for this article!
I hope this article has been helpful to you ✨.
If you are having trouble grasping the characteristics of shoes, you might want to try drawing them out in text, like I did in this article!
Now, please look forward to the next article!
