【Silver】Making of a metal block

This time I would like to explain how to draw [metal block], one of the four blocks mentioned in the painting course!

First of all...

Prepare the block that will serve as the foundation! The top and front surfaces are the same brightness this time. At this time, the corners of the block are also shaved off.

Next, paint the top surface. I painted the top surface so that there is a gradation from the back to the front. Since the color is similar to that of the shadow surface, we lightly highlight the edges to show the boundary.

Add tone to the shadow surface. Here, too, I painted with an eye toward a gradient that becomes brighter as it goes down (reflected light).

Next, the front surface is painted. I also painted in the reflections. (Between you and me, this is a space with no background, so it can be done rather carelessly as long as it looks like that.

Painting in the details

From here, the details are painted in and adjusted! In this case, I wanted to create the image of scratched metal, so I created chipped edges. The highlights on the edges are emphasized.

Next, draw scratches on each surface. Randomly arranging the cracks gives them a similar look. Also, shape the highlights and draw reflections on the top surface.

Finally, add the reflected light.

Using an additive layer, add light so that it disappears from near the ground toward the top... and you're done!

It's a pretty analog way to draw, so even if you don't have paint software, just imitate me with your paints!

Please look forward to the next making of the painting!
