Some quick thoughts

Just wanted to lay out some thoughts about my writing format and hopefully get some feedback.

Would appreciate a read! TLDR at the bottom if it's too much: This latest chapter of Aphrodite's Charm(Coming this evening) wasn’t as long as I thought it be, but still ~15k words. Hopefully forgivable considering how late it was. That wasn’t for a lack of effort or time invested, but a silly conflict of interest on my part.

So, here’s the thing. When I first started FF(and writing in general) I didn’t write pure smut. But when I started Patreon, my only works were King of the World, Love and Lust, and Horny Witches, which are all ‘smut’ fics. Smut as in; porn as the primary focus, not too serious, and importantly, I try for a ‘lemon’(sex scene) in every chapter.

Now that I’ve built my Patreon around that, I’ve found myself writing with the notion that at least one smut scene is required per chapter. Or at least feeling some pressure to include it, even if it might rush the plot. But sometimes, as with Aphrodite’s Charm or Hogwarts Ledger, I enjoy a little build up. This combination has resulted in some crazy circumstances, especially recently, where I end up a week late but post a ridiculously long chapter. (27k word Daphne Chapter in HW)

In the case of Aphrodite’s Charm, I had a very clear roadmap of that story from the beginning, but when I started Ch 4, I quickly became conflicted on whether that was going to be the chapter with Aphrodite’s scene or not. Considering the ending of Ch 3 and the general flow of that story, I felt it would’ve been a very abrupt choice to jump straight into a sex scene in Ch 4. So that left me in limbo, two chapters or one that would end up like 30k words and would have to be delayed even more than it already was?

I don’t know if you guys care one way or another, however, I’ve come to realize that this debate I’ve been having has been caused a few minor issues internally. Recently, it’s left me feeling with a few of my chapters that they were either way too long, or rushing a character’s smut scene I probably would’ve preferred building up longer. (If you read L&L, Robin’s last chapter) And as a result of the massive length of some of these, I have stories I genuinely DO want to write for, that I haven’t updated in months.

TLDR; Do you guys want smut in every chapter? Would you be okay with plot/character development focused chapters if you enjoyed them? And I suppose, would you be okay with shorter chapters if it meant faster updates? (Assuming there was no loss of word count or content.)

Now, I don’t want to imply with this post that I’m going to be taking the smut out of HW or my other works. Most of my content is designed to be smut stories, with very little plot at all. But, I’d love to improve my work where I can.
