Development Update - Toys, VR, Stability

Just a quick note about what is in progress with vamX

Also this is an open forum where you can write what you hope to see in the future.

Coming in the next release (1.13)

There has been a lot of work done to improve sync with The Handy (thehandy.com) and other VAMSync toys.  In addition there will be an easy vamX UI button interface to fine tune the sync range and position. If you have thought about getting a Handy, it may be a good time to order one to arrive by the next release.

I noticed that things weren't as clean as possible for poses, expressions, and VR in general.  Some fixes include:

Ability to maintain pose alignment even for people with different scales (smaller, larger). Poses are now loaded at standard scale, the correct parts aligned, then the pose is scaled to meet your person's currently set scale.

Fixed issues with over glossy/shiny skin for some looks.

Reduced mouth opening too wide errors during dialog.

Stop eyes blinking while already closed during expressions.

Stop applying facial expressions to vamX looks that already have strong facial expressions, as this made them look strange.

Improved VR usage all around. Improved the general ability to possess and control people in VR (as well as to have good views without possessing them) and more. I'm trying to make this as user friendly as intuitive as possible to just get started with VR in vamX.

New tutorials for VR and toys.

Lots of minor fixes and improvements throughout.

After this Toys / VR / Stability release (1.13) the following release (1.14) will focus on added content to vamX, and perhaps another voice.

More animation is coming. Regarding Futa content, its pretty easy to load your own custom Futa looks, but not quite as easy as just clicking a vamX button. Are you wanting more looks, or something else?

It's almost all male lines. Are you looking for more male speech? I've been focusing on more female speech. I've never been sure what percent of people turn the male voice on / off.

I second this. Would prefer not to do futa but actually just a strap on with a girl as futa is not my taste. It is technically feasible to make this work right now using edit mode but very frustrating as f/f alignment has to be exactly right for this to work. Also you have to manually edit the thrust control nodes, which is challenging.

I'd love if you (and everyone else) can write some more phrases. Feel free to private message me or write as a reply here! There will eventually be a story system that let's users customize things like phrases, but that's a few builds away.

Great Job Vamx and thank you for the good work. I would like a few more fraises from the female. "oh thats so big, it barley fits" "baby I love you" "oh my god that's deep" ect. and maybe the ability to choose the or select or unselect the fraises she or he says.

I'll take a look into it, I just need to find out exactly what E-motion is doing that conflicts with vamX, and disable only that part. If you have any info about this, let me know.

It's possible, but one would need to get a specific tongue model, and animate it. Are you trying to sort of be a third person? What advantage do you have of having it tied to the camera rig instead of possessing the male or 3rd person?

This is the best haptic vest right now for the normal user yes from bhaptics: TactSuit X40 they use this vest in VR Chat, too. You can feel touches with the motors and everything seems possible. Reacts to touch music, games etc. I hope you can integrate that in the next update.

I've researched this a bit more and it seems like the main available consumer suit is by bHaptics, but it's mainly a series of vibrating motors that provide feedback as to where you've been shot in a game. There are better suits coming out, like teslasuit.io, which can generate a wide variety of simulated tactile experiences, but they don't seem to be commercially available yet.

Interesting. I have about 3 or 4 voices already ready that just need processing (which takes forever). I am getting that people, in general are interested in more voices, so I will take the time to process these and get them into vamX. All the work is generating the nice lip sync data. I've tried plugins and the results really distract from the scene as the just don't sync. When it sync's somewhat, as it does now in vamX (especially after fixes coming in 1.13) it's just not noticeable. But when I use the virt-a-mate defaults or popular lip sync plugins for virt-a-mate the result is so not synchronized it just looks really bad. I'll make a note of the idea of a whispering voice for the future, it's a nice idea after I get through the content I already have.

Do you own a haptic vest? If so, which one and would it feel good in vamX?

I assume you aren't just looking for FUTA, as there is already a FUTA option (girl with penis). A FUTA character is technically male, so that makes everything easy in Virt-a-Mate, all poses just work. I think you're on to something, though, regarding strap-ons, I'll see if I can make this work with 1.14

So if I change the male to female is there a way to add a strap on? That way all the sex scenes would work with female on female?

In virt-a-mate you can set the scale of people. In vamX you can go to Female -> Fantasy Character Builder -> and choose the Fairy size (sizes are intended for 18+ year old people of small or large size). You can also manually go to edit mode, and in the main Control & Physics tab of any person atom, change the Scale.

Glad to hear! Emotion technically works but the Person is more likely to make odd unnatural movements or break physics unless vamX control is turned off. Bit of a shame as Emotion does have many minor lifelike movements, but vamX has superior overall control. As vamX runs "under the hood," it can be hard to know which is determining the person's movement at a given time.

I get cravings for some really extreme stuff occasionally so I'm just gonna ask. Will there be a capacity to use a tiny or smaller person as a toy?

yes, i use that plug-in, which as far as i know only animates the tongue on each person. I'm wondering if there's a way you can apply a tongue to the camera rig, not a person.

I was planning on adding more voices, but each one takes a couple of weeks to add, so a build with a voice doesn't contain much other new content... In 1.15 I'm now planning on doing some more full animation stuff, which may include mocap. I'll make a note to go back over hand movement, I'm sure that could be improved a lot if work was put into it. What problems do you have running Emotion with vamX? Probably better to just fix those issues. I run without Emotion, but for those that want it, I'd like it to work well, and there is a section in Plugins dedicated to Emotion. Have you tried the Emotion launched from the Plugins menu?

Great idea. I managed to turn off shadows for this element. The vamX toolbar won't cast shadows in 1.13 and above.

The vamx toolbar casts a shadow under certain lighting. is there a way to disable this?

VamX is quite great and has improved a lot over the last several months. Certainly not demanding all the following, but some ideas if they help: more voices, better transitions between poses, natural movement of more parts of the Person (i.e. like Emotion but more compatible with VamX as it seems to have some issues running together), less buggy auto hand movement, more compatibility for F/F (recent updates have greatly improved but not perfect), more participation of the 3rd person as in many poses they are not involved, maybe ability to import Vamsutura poses, a quality pass for some of the dancing - some are good some are unnatural. If very ambitious I'd suggest more mocap options, perhaps different voice / mood personalities (shy, outgoing, unwilling, etc), basic conversation/interaction with the Person. In general I think many small things to make the Person behave more lifelike are a good direction to go.

I guess for that I would recommend using the Plugins button Pussy Licking ImprovedPOV. Anything you need not covered by that plugin?

VAMX has pretty much checked off my virtamate checklist. The only other thing I could ask for, is a tongue mounted to the camera rig, (like the the licking better fov plugin). Is that even possible?

There isn't redness, but it's pretty easy to start spanking. It's mainly about either possessing the male hands, or turning on VR Hands with collision. Both of these things will be much easier in 1.13. Regarding spanking sounds, those are enabled in the Sound tab -> Spankings & Collision sounds. If you want her to thrust in response to spanking, add Spankings with Moans and Hip Thrusting from the 6th Plugins page. I'll think about the redness idea.

Thank you for these upcoming improvements. I think it would be nice to make it easier to slap or spank girls for the male character. Redness (like a costume texture) could be added by the number of hits received (for the male or the girl).

I'm glad you asked about the stories. I think they are cool and I keep waiting for someone to ask for more of them as I wasn't sure if people were interested or not. So, in a future release I'll also work on the stories. I'm thinking perhaps in 1.14 I'll add some more content (clothes, looks, etc.) then in 1.15 work on a story that is fully animated.

re boneworks, physics in VaM is too complicated and/or not stable enough for that level of complexity. What you were looking at in boneworks is a relatively simple physics environment, whereas in VaM the physics of the body is much more complex and realistic (breast physics, interaction of sex organs, and just a much more complicated person model). Still, I do think this general idea / direction has some possibilities which will add a lot to vamX, and it's a good idea for a general direction, not necessarily walking, but more fluid transitions between a more limited set of options.

I guess you mean not in VR? It is possible to allow walking around, but it wouldn't be a smooth transition in or out of sex poses. In VR you can walk around if you have enough trackers to also possess the feet and choose an appropriate pose, but in Desktop mode I'm just not sure how important this would be, as you would probably first jump (snap) directly from a sex pose to walking, then walk a few steps. It's not possible (reasonable) to then create animations from walking to all possible sex poses and back. I'm thinking in the future of creating an animated option, that would include fully animated transitions, but there would be some down sides. There would be fewer poses, sex toy integration wouldn't work, and I'm not sure how things would work with people of different sizes, but it could be cool to have fully animated transitions into/out of everything.

Hmm, to answer the last question, is it possible to make it so you can actually walk around as the character you have possessed? Like, just be able to possess a character and use the joystick to walk around as that character.
