MF DOOM - MM..FOOD | AOTM

Comments

Here after hearing Doechii big up MF Doom. I know nothing, outside of that.

Jae Right

Vaudeville Villain next! My favourite DOOM album, some of the best beats he's ever rhymed on imo. Viktor Vaughn is another alias, different persona, same rapper.

Skinner

King ghedora for me

Henare Stewart Sadlier

Need Vaudeville Villain or Operation Doomsday next for sureee

Ollie

You should take a listen to the Lupe fiasco mf doom freestyle where he pays homage to doom after he passed. It’s so fire

Ryanmas

Is it weird that I know all of the skits nearly word for word lol

CoolHapps

I don’t consider it biting, Drake is a known Drake fan and he’ll modernize a bar from a rapper he’s a fan of he’s always done it.

CoolHapps

Drake is actually a DOOM fan, he’s rapped over a couple of his beats, the one track I can think of he did with Nickelus F called The Grind, rapper over Accordion from Madvillainy

CoolHapps

Yoo, I think you should really check out of The Alchemist latest albums with Ohno (together called Gangrene). Called 'Heads I win, Tails you lose'. Very MF Doom esc production and a lot of amazing bars from both The Alchemist and Ohno

Quincy Beurskens

The reason RDJ is playing Doon is because in another universe future Tony start becomes Dr. Doom! So it matches up with the comics. I think it'll be dope

Hector Rodriguez

Lately, I’ve been craving substance and skill, so I started to really dive into Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, Nas, MF DOOM and its like listening to the source, and they’re just rapping cuz they love it. There are a lot of new rappers recently bringing back that rap but theres nothing like the source. Plus growing up in Queens helped me learn about Rap early. I also love how MF DOOM samples old cartoons meanwhile Wu-Tang mostly samples old Samurai and Kung-Fu films. I’m a 2000’s baby but it really gives me a feeling from that 90’s era, truly geniuses in their own art.

mattmattburr

Rudra

I hope this turns into a Madvillain re-reaction and then a MF DOOM discog dive, the streets NEED that breakdown

Kayen

bro the rapping in this album is so crazy to me, it took years to fully understand some of the stuff he was saying in this album, y'all gotta listen to hoe cakes again when you have time that song is hilarious.

Devon McCarthy

Y’all gotta do Vaudeville Villain! A project he released under Viktor Vaughn !! He’s also got a project Called take me to your leader under the name King Geedorah!!

Andrew Colbaugh

Love he reaction!!! no lie at all, if yall look into Doom's real life story of how he became MF DOOM from his prior rap name it will inspire emotion. So to re-listen to the skit after deep fried friends is to listen to his career origin story. RIP the fucking legend, genius, monarch yo.

Kelsey Giddings

Would love to see you guys react to Born Like This

Honestly, if you're doing another DOOM recording, I think it should be DangerDOOM, I would honestly say for me that's my 2nd favorite DOOM album after Mm Food, even better than Madvillainy to me

Maadhav

yall gotta add the new jid 31 freestyle to tha list lol

mattmattburr

David F

I called it on the Chippendale bar, straight up said said he bit MF DOOM

GimliBackpack

I hope yall do Operation Doomsday. Another great album that I’d like your perspective on. And yes, Doom has quite the backstory. Doom ain’t even his first persona.

Brand X

So hype for whatever MF Doom vinyl you put up on the wall. Fingers crossed for Vaudeville Villain :) Also, I can't thank y'all enough for how thought provoking and in-depth your reviews are. This was actually my least favorite MF Doom project, but now it's one of my favorites.

R E

i love potholderz so much that beat is so good

owe

The sample on Hoe Cakes is Anita Baker's Sweet Love if you're talking the instrumental. In which case, y'all were maybe thinking about Drake's Think Good Thoughts? The sample crazy either way.

Ryan Desagun

Seen this video, dope video.

FigLeaf Bicarbonate

Yesss Prince, this album is where I got my name from, one of my favourite beats from one of my favourite albums from one of my favourite artists of all time lol. Yeah man DOOM inspired a lot of rappers that I hold in a high regard in this particular lane, the Roc Marci, Earl Sweatshirt, Billy Woods, JPEG, Danny Brown, Mach-Hommy's of the world. Hopefully we get a reaction to Born Like This by DOOM in the future some day 💪🏽🙏🏽 Really enjoyed the reaction and I'm glad y'all get to enjoy the greatness of DOOM.

FigLeaf Bicarbonate

Kon Karne is so ridiculous, amazing album

Dylan Owen

Loved the reaction, for thought, another rapper in his own insane lane and style of “art rapping” is Billy Woods.. Hiding Places is still I think his best work for themes, rhymes, and just all around interesting material literally such a great body of work… Would be dope to see yall check that out one of these days

Ezra

Shit this was 20 years ago! If ya'll do another one of these, The mouse and the mask would be dope!

Jakob Blom

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKkaJqCwXhU You have to watch this. Sub to his channel too. His video breakdowns are insane. This gave me another level of appreciation for this album.

Gabe Segura

MF DOOM's entire story is pretty tragic. He was an artist before in a group with his brother in New York, but then his brother got hit by a car and died. The label shelved their album. He disappeared and wound up living on the streets in New York and found his way down to Atlanta where he started going on stage at open mic nights wearing pantyhose on his head. He saw the industry as screwing him over and believed he was outcast. He took up the name and visuals to basically become rap's villain. He essentially did take on the whole Dr. Doom persona to pay homage, but also to represent him and his perceived place in the industry. That's some basics on the story, if anyone else wants to specify or correct something leave a reply or something. The man is a legend. Edit: he also has a weird thing in common with 21 Savage, trouble with US immigration. He came over with his parents as an infant and when coming off tour in Europe he was denied coming back to the US because of an out of date visa. That's why he lived his last years in Europe and died there.

Dylan

We need that Vince Staples-Summertime 06’

Johnnie Cortez

I came down to say the same thing about the album name. That shit is a bar itself lmao. M.F. DOOM = MM.. FOOD. Even explaining why there are only 2 dots instead of 3 like you'd normally have for an ellipsis. The man was a wonder in terms of how he thought. The rhyme schemes, the flips, everything.

Dylan

Let's GOOOOOOO more doom pls guys there is so much to discover

jack

The Mouse and the Mask album is dope. I feel like Operation: Doomsday has to be next, though!

SAM-WISE GAMGEE

More doom is definitely appreciated. My favorite album is this one you heard and born like this. The one with danger mouse is great too tho. Much love

Pro

DOOM has a lot of different personas as well: MADVILLIAN, Viktor Vaughn, King Geedorah, etc. and he released albums under those aliases as well so there's a lot of great music to check out by him. Almost like he wasn't satisfied with his competition so he created his own!

Demetrius Towns

Why does the beginning have the "Alligator Bites Never Heal" Doechii text over the MMFOOD cover? Am I missing something?

SAM-WISE GAMGEE

DOOOOOOM MF DOOM = Metal Face when rapping MF DOOM = Metal Fingers when producing MM..FOOD is an anagram of MF DOOM The "skits" involve a lot of old cartoons and stuff based on comic books because Doctor Doom is the Spiderman villain that his character is based on. And there was so much mystery around the character. Like who was Mr Fantastik, who was MF DOOM? Early on after his initial success with Operation Doomsday DOOM would have imposters show up to perform at shows

SAM-WISE GAMGEE

Count Bass D’s “Dwight Spitz” is an unbelievable album. Y’all should seriously check out some of his stuff. I don’t think there’s a Count Bass D reaction on the whole internet that isn’t Potholderz, and that’s a real shame.

Chance
