U dumb as fuck lol

Bryce Rhine

The freestyles are rolling in... I'll try and get them all added. :) https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPbTvphKGcC9fbXFsHHJtAefJREVh_uQR&si=ufJMBk7ay1Jz-yNr

Jouvanne Thomas

Are y'all gonna react to the Lecrae and Dee-1 songs aswell??

Swock

so true when you said drake is fan of culture and Kendrick is product of culture

Dheeraj

Can you guys react to the Weeknd new album when it drops

Binyam Kebede

"I want their families mortified" my first thought was of the stuff I have read about Diddy parties. I want the families mortified by what these people have been doing. The crimes they have been committing.

Emma

Yeah I don’t think anywhere in these raps he had all year this year was he talking about “woe is me it’s not fair the labels are against me” I mean ever since TPAB I believe or maybe it’s DAMN he’s been talking shit about the “industry” I think the longer he spent time being famous and doin music the more and more he saw the weird shit going on in the music business this song doesn’t sound like a plea or pity party song it sounds like someone who wants to fix something or expose something

Evan Sinclair

Yall are the best reactors out there without a doubt bro. Keep it up! 💪🏽

Charles Witherow

Love the track, great vid. Need that full project or even like a concept EP would be fire.

Dvd

Or, “.. before the day is done” ?

Elijah Cherweznik

definitely agree on the timing being to to damage control after the super bowl heat

Torin Reese

It’s not tho - he’s been sending messages to the higher ups and industry in every album since section 80

tgood

i honestly think bc it wouldn’t perform well enough numbers wise, which would tarnish his current optics

Torin Reese

lol that’s a reach bro

Torin Reese

Love your breakdowns. You guys really pay attention and look past the surface. I gotta say this and 6:16 are my favorite. They address the beef but focus more on his heart and inner struggle that I think many can connect to. Speaking up and doing the right thing can be hard. I love Lecrae and was so happy to hear him mentioned. This really does remind me of the themes of his album After The Music Stops. Music can be fun and it brings wealth if you’re good at it, but when it stops what will you be remembered for? Did you walk with the broken and help pick up the pieces or did you leave more destruction in your wake?

Leigh Pineda

I know there’s a lot of talk about whether Kendrick would have gone in this direction if there hadn’t been a beef with Drake. However, I’m leaning towards the idea that he had the beef with Drake because he wanted to go in this direction. Maybe the bait in ‘Like That’ was just to draw Drake out, allowing Kendrick to bury him and take this path, leading into the theme of his next album. It sounds like it could be focused on ‘destroy and rebuild,’ particularly around the hip-hop industry…. Just a random thought, but open to discussion

Ghas

The content is there but I'm just not a fan of how it was put together for it to sound pleasing. It lacks good flow and cadence that marries well with the beat for me to say it sounds like a good song thats anesthetically pleasing to my ear.. To me it sounds like words over a beat and its just meh. I see people calling this a fire song and I don't get that. At the end of the day this is music and while I can respect his pen I don't think it was constructed well.

Melody101

Definitely don’t get the vibe he’s acting like the industry is against him. Seems like he’s just using his position in hip hop to call out all of the shit prevalent in the industry that he can’t stand. Not a ‘woe is me’ angle at all, more of a purification ritual. Feels almost apocalyptic.

John

I don’t think he’s acting as if it’s against him. Throughout the track he’s not saying “poor me” it’s more of a “yo take a peak behind these curtains, I’ll show yall the bigger picture when the time is right”

James

I love this track, but i just can’t get with the whole anti industry sentiment from Kendrick, he acts like the whole industry is against him when in reality it couldn’t be more for him. He literally just got booked to do the Super Bowl for the second time) the dsps are with him playing not like us after every drake song etc. The industry in reality is heavily against Drake and is heavily in favour of Kendrick. I can certainly get behind Kendrick exposing the industry but when he paints it as though the industry is against him i just dont see any evidence for that in 2024.

Reece Butler

Best reaction I have seen, as always. You guys are the best out there. Really hope this means an album soon cause this was so good.

Emma

Kendrick is using Drake as a stepping stone to take down the industry next, it’s been planned that way from the beginning (section 80) if you listen to the music closely

tgood

I agree that this is bigger. It’s for the culture.

Arie

I just watched a therapist talk about how the your relationships have a direct affect on your physical and mental health. Like, if your relationships are bad, you’ll be sick as well. It feels like Kendrick is saying something similar in that last verse.

Arie

The black Air Forces really mean violence and he’s chosen it!!! The fact that he dropped it on IG instead of YT or streaming just shows he gives no fucks.

Arie

Could be a stretch lol…

Kobe Dunbar

I don’t think this is a diss at Drake. Drake embodies and is the personification of what Kendrick hates about the cultural norms of hip-pop/rap as well as the societal values of the world. 9/11 motif could have multiple reasons (per usual for Kendrick). 9/11 could also be seen as 911 due to death being a theme. Whether that’s the death of one’s past to grow and exemplify gods true words and values (hence the praying). Death as in beating the shit out of Drake or even seen as the death and disassembling of the current structure of the industry to build back up. Which ties into the significance of the 9/11 motif. Some people view 9/11 as the last time the nation was unified because of the horrific event. The massacre of the Twin Towers being a metaphor within itself because after the destruction of the Twin Towers, they re-created the single building we know today as the “One World Trade Center.” Which completes the underlying unify theme.

Kobe Dunbar

The whole time I was thinking how this relates to midlife crisis by Ransom, crazy how the best in the field are having similar thoughts about the culture

Rafael Camargos Santos

Drake fans don’t dictate the consensus of public opinion. Y’all better stop relying on the Canadian for (Black) American culture and news.

Jonathan Riley

Considering the themes/Tone, remember that this was dropped on 9/11

Jonathan Riley

Dee1 with the shoutout

Jr.Kings89

The idea that the bigger you get, the more money you get, the more opportunities there are to compromise your morals? I think that can apply anywhere.

Smitty

Even outside of the industry this is a conversation that people are having in general. That the system isn't working, that we need to (figuratively? literally?) burn everything down and start anew.

Smitty

“I want their families mortified” is definitely some black Air Force 1 energy 😂😂😂

Spencer

Cousin Stizz - 500 Horses i hope you see it

waleed alsahabi

He’s such a breath of fresh air 🔥

Tammie Smith

Scene: Kendrick and a bunch of white industry execs in a boardroom, 2022. "Kendrick, thanks for doing our bidding during the last five years where you released nothing. We think that in order for you to stay in our good graces, we need you to talk about cheating on your fiancee with white chicks, accuse women of listening to R.Kelly, and talk about your mom getting molested and how she got paranoid about you getting molested too. The industry needs this. Thanks Kendrick!"

Patz

For sure!

Curtis West

Business wise it makes sense to build the fanbase more but kdot is one of one man just be on your toes when it comes to receiving drops from him!!! He dont do much advertising just ambushing us lol!!! He different different!!!

Duane Tasha Dunlap

It gets better with every listen. The pared down, minimalistic nature of the song--from production, to his flow, to his lack of entendres/wordplay--was an intentional decision. Seems weird to say this lacked good song structure when there are no wasted lines and the entire thing coheres as a statement on the "party". Most hip hop songs can't carry an idea through a single verse, let alone an entire song. Weirdly enough this reminded me of older singer/songwriter stuff like Bob Dylan

R E

did yall catch that survival reference? when he cut his words out, it can't be a coincidence lol

caitlyn

I would never demand an artist to drop. I think it would be best he drop March 7-25 since those are the dates of the Selma to Montgomery marches.

Curtis West

We’ll likely never know lol

Chris Malinowski

Yeah true. Dont be surprised if we get some shit tonight but also, i doubt it bc the weeknd is dropping a single tomorroe and him/kendrick are tight, i dont see them dropping same day

Chris Malinowski

Nah fuck that shit he better drop it before the SB 😭

Chris Malinowski

Its just some verses he shared on instagram, its not like its a lead single. Its not even mixed/mastered properly. Song structure doesnt really matter. Its designed to be made this way, isnt supposed to have song structure, just truth & his perspective with the pen. Thats all hip hop rly was from the start

Chris Malinowski

why didn’t he drop on dsp?

Dennis

Kendrick is an industry darling he’s just done a great job of convincing everyone that he goes against the industry

Earnest Williams II

You trippin

DRagos

This wasn't it in my opinion. Although heavy in lyrics it lacked good strong structure. However what I've learned from this battle is the standard people hold Kendrick to when it comes to making music is very different compared to other artists . This felt a bit mid and like it was a PR move to shift from the negative SB reaction. You have the entire industry on your side--all facets of it in fact and the bias is loud. Let's see what's next.

Melody101

when kendrick said at the last grammys he is the biggest underground artist of all time he was not lying. how many artists, not just rappers, of this size are releasing music with this type of content? he was just announced for the SUPERBOWL and drops a song talking about the industry. CRAZY

Mateus B.

The main goal must be performing in the football world cup, who's gonna have it!!!!!

JTHOG

Holy shit laaaate drop preciate it fam. Ts makes me feel like I'm hungry for something I can't even comprehend yet. This inspirational betterment of hip hop kinda vibe is getting me crazy excited for the album.

KuennBeats

I think there will be an album next year AFTER the Super Bowl.

Curtis West

People catch stuff like the image with apps like Google Lens.

I see we’re burning the midnight oil, Gentlemen. Spoiling the Patreon members. Thank you very much 🙏🏾 I really love Kendrick throwing shots at these “influencers” who be out here spouting nonsense for likes and clicks. I’m also down with him asking these other artists, executives and media members to do better. Burn it down and start over. I’m here for it. When that man said “the industry can hate me…” he was talking about more than picking sides in a rap beef. It would be super dope if his next project truly takes on the industry from multiple sides and angles. There’s a lot of nasty work going on out here. I can’t think of anyone better to speak on the overall state of hiphop than the man that currently wears the crown .

dc

Ayeee let’s go

Faceless P

We here 🔥 Hopefully an album is coming, also Kendrick censoring himself on that third verse is crazy, I wanna know what was said.

FigLeaf Bicarbonate

SO GLAD I STAYED UP
