Her husband was poisoned, possibly at the hands of the queen herself.
Her adult son, Dolph, has remained a prince of the Kingdom throughout this time. He has managed to get married and have an heir, but the throne still remains under his mother's control. His wife, no less ambitious, Princess Ava, had hoped to become queen when she married, but unfortunately, that outcome may not come soon.
The queen's grandson, Robin, brings a breath of fresh air and change to the kingdom's future. His carefree nature and joyful spirit bring joy and liveliness to the royal chambers. It is towards him that the stern queen harbors warm feelings.
