Chapter 9: Plague

Gotaland

"What right does King Horik believe he has to my land?" Jarl Borg exclaimed angrily as he rose from the table where Ragnar and his companions sat. "This territory belongs to me, and I refuse to give it up."

"Actually, King Horik has a different perspective; he's willing to compensate you for the land," Ragnar remarked nonchalantly while enjoying the meal that Jarl Borg had offered.

"My territory is not up for grabs," Jarl Borg declared, prompting a laugh from Rollo. He glanced at Ragnar's brother, who returned his gaze with a nearly taunting grin.

"Everything has a price, whether it's land or even ourselves," Rollo stated matter-of-factly. To some extent, he was correct; most people would go to great lengths if the compensation was sufficient.

"Perhaps you can be bought, but I cannot be, nor can my land," Jarl Borg retorted sharply, pacing the room like a trapped beast.

"Since that’s how you feel, we’ll be on our way as there’s nothing more to discuss," Ragnar and his group began to stand up to depart, but Jarl Borg intervened.

"Hold on, let's not rush into anything. Perhaps we can find a middle ground," Jarl Borg suggested as he settled back into his seat, prompting Ragnar and his group to do the same. "What if I lease the land to King Horik, but I still retain ownership of it?"

Ragnar remained silent, merely observing Jarl Borg as the man continued to speak, hoping he would propose a deal that would be acceptable to King Horik.

Jarl Borg suggested, "If King Horik isn't satisfied, we could split the land rights and mine it equally," which brought a smile to Ragnar's face, as the proposal was beneficial; however, there was a complication involved.

"That offer is appealing, but I lack the authority to negotiate for King Horik," Ragnar confessed. Horik was adamant about not compromising; his only directive was to force Jarl Borg to sell his land or face war. However, Ragnar held out hope that Horik might reconsider if presented with a favorable proposal. "I will need to bring your offer back to King Horik for his response."

Jarl Borg expressed his frustration, stating that Ragnar had essentially squandered his time. He questioned, "If you can't negotiate on behalf of King Horik, then why did he send you here in the first place?"

"I'm unsure, but I'll return to relay your message to him, and perhaps he'll agree," Ragnar replied evenly. He was aware that there was still a possibility that Jarl Borg might violate the code of hospitality and launch an attack, but fortunately, that did not occur.

"Go ahead and do what you need to, but one of you is going to have to remain here," Jarl Borg said, annoyed, as he watched Ragnar rise. The man gave his brother a reassuring pat on the shoulder before continuing.

"Rollo will be staying," Ragnar declared as he got ready to go calling his other men to head back to Kattegat not looking behind him at the angry face of his brother.

Jarl Borg looked at Rollo and saw a bit of his old self in him, the jealousy mixed with love and loyalty that was why he knew he could twist those feeling to get Rollo on his side.

Path To Ash Tree

"So you're saying you caught a glimpse of a woman in the nude and ended up with a cut on your cheek, and now I need to apologize to her?" Ragnar asked, both amused and intrigued as his two men recounted their story. "Who is this woman, anyway?"

Froki was dispatched back to Denmark to converse with King Horik, while the rest of the group decided to take a break at the Ash Tree, waiting for Froki to return with the King's instructions on their next steps. Meanwhile, the two Vikings went to the river to fish and unexpectedly came across a naked red-haired woman.

"We have no idea who this woman is," said a Viking with an eye patch, as they found themselves under attack and eager to escape the situation rather than inquire further.

"Now I’m curious about who this woman is that holds her nudity in such high regard," Ragnar remarked with a smile, as occurrences like this were quite rare.

"What's so fascinating about this?" Bjorn asked, puzzled. Ragnar glanced at his son, recalling that he was still just a boy and unaware of the allure of intimacy.

"Occasionally, the gods present us with challenges," Ragnar replied, hesitant to reveal the true reason, but it was a close approximation. "How about this: you go back and tell her that if she desires an apology, she must arrive here dressed but still bare, neither completely satisfied nor starving, and accompanied yet alone."

"Do you recall everything?" Ragnar asked, glancing at the one-eyed Viking who nodded, not grasping the significance of Ragnar's riddle. However, it wasn't his task to decipher it; that responsibility fell to the enigmatic woman.

Fast Forward

Within a day, the enigmatic woman who sought an apology from Ragnar for two of his men catching a glimpse of her nakedness made her presence known. She was characterized by her long blonde hair, slender figure, and attractive face.

The enigmatic woman arrived dressed in a fishing net, holding an apple in one hand and a dog on a leash in the other. Ragnar and his companions gazed at her in awe; she was a captivating figure. While desire flickered in the eyes of all the men, Bjorn remained unaffected as the woman drew nearer to Ragnar.

"I am neither dressed nor undressed, neither satisfied nor starving, and I am neither in company nor solitary," the woman said with a smile, having unraveled Ragnar's riddle. She was also eager to meet the man rumored to have sailed west and discovered new territories ripe for raiding.

Ragnar gazed at the woman, noting her features now that she was nearer. Her fair skin and delightful fragrance made his pants feel tighter than usual. It took him a moment to regain his composure and respond to the amusement of the blonde-haired woman.

"Would you like to join us?" Ragnar asked with a grin, holding up a fish. "We've got some salted fish."

"I would be delighted to," the woman responded, taking Ragnar's hand as he guided her to sit by the fire. The blonde-haired female guards accompanied them as well but remained standing.

The other Vikings observed with a mix of amusement and envy, but Bjorn wore a frown as he watched his father flirt with the woman he later learns name is Aslaug.

Lemon Scene Ahead

On their journey back to Gotaland, while they waited for Froki to return with updates from King Horik, Ragnar and his men took a break in some huts. He shared a hut with Aslaug and Bjorn.

"Ah ah ah," Aslaug moaned softly as Ragnar thrust his cock in and out of her slit from on top of her. "Harder, fuck me harder," the woman whispered into Ragnar's ear, begging for more.

Ragnar invited the woman he now knew was a princess to go to the Ash Tree with him and his companions. He had been mesmerized by her beauty, and one thing led to another, and here they are.

"As you wish, princess," Ragnar replied as he moved his hips faster, making the woman moan louder. "Is that hard enough for you?"

Ragnar enjoyed the feeling of Aslaug's pussy clenching around his cock, trying to squeeze his seed out of his balls, something he had not felt from Lagertha in a long time, or should he say since he had given Naruto permission to use her.

"Yes, that was maybe a mistake," Ragnar mused as he thrust his rod in and out of Aslaug, her hands and legs wrapped around him, clearly wanting him to bury his seed deep inside her womb. "Not only is the spark between me and Lagertha gone, but she has become so loose."

Ragnar lamented that either Naruto's cock was that much bigger than his, or the blacksmith must have had sex with Lagertha regularly to the point her insides took the shape of his rod, so when her husband tried to have sex with her, she felt loose and he couldn't get any pleasure out of the act.

Not to mention the fact that he didn't know if the child that Lagertha had was his own or Naruto, his wife made it a game or punishment to him

"None of that matters now," Ragnar thought as he drove his cock in and out of Aslaug, and with a grunt, came deep within her.

"I hope you are not done yet," Aslaug said in a seductive tone, flexing her cunt and making Ragnar grow hard again, "because I want more."

"If that is what you want, who am I to deny you, princess?" Ragnar said with a confident grin. He started back, thrusting harder than before, making the sounds of their intimacy fill the area.

PLAP PLAP PLAP PLAP

Ragnar didn't notice, or he didn't care, that Bjorn, who was not even twenty feet away, facing away from him, heard everything and had an angry and disgusted look on his face.

Lemon Scene End

Kattegat

"Women, children, and some men are succumbing to a fever," Siggy remarked while nursing her newborn daughter. "We are unaware of the source or whether there is a remedy."

Naruto paid attention to Siggy as she sat in his private chambers, accompanied by Thyri and her daughter, along with Lagertha and her son and daughter, Gyda. They were discussing the recent outbreak of illness that had affected Kattegat.

Thyri felt irritated by Lagertha's presence, but she believed it was simply Naruto's way of ensuring that his potential son with Lagertha stayed safe.

"While I wouldn't claim we have no idea about the cause," Naruto said, a hint of irritation in his voice, prompting the women in the room to turn their attention to him. He continued, "If I'm correct, this plague emerged after some men went on a raid without my consent, and shortly after they returned, the illness began to spread."

"However, the men who returned were in good health," Lagertha remarked, and she was correct; they were alive and well. "If they had been carrying any illness, they would have shown signs of it."

Naruto glanced at Lagertha, causing her to feel uneasy. It wasn't that he intended to threaten her; rather, he regarded her in a manner similar to how she looks at her children when they do something foolish.

"Just because the men appear healthy doesn't mean they aren't carrying the disease," Naruto said thoughtfully, recognizing that without the memories of Naruto Uzumaki, he might not have understood this. "You can think of them as disease carriers; they might not show any symptoms but can still infect others."

"If that's the case, how can we help those who fall ill?" Thyri inquired, concerned for herself and her family. "Is there a remedy?"

"I'm not sure if there's a cure, but it's possible that those who recover from the illness could build up some resistance or even gain immunity," Naruto remarked as he reflected on his experiences as a ninja. "It appears to be impacting women and children more significantly than men."

"Is it possible for you to cure this?" Lagertha inquired, glancing at her son and daughter, feeling a sense of dread at the thought of losing one of them to this illness.

"I don't really consider myself a healer," Naruto confessed. "I might be able to assist someone in battling their illness, but my skills are limited. I can help people survive long enough to develop immunity to this disease, but it really depends on the individual, as some may still succumb to it. My expertise lies in treating physical injuries, whereas healing illnesses is better suited for those with more knowledge in that area."

Naruto thought about how, if Tsunade and Sakura were present, they would have already put an end to this outbreak and developed a vaccine before it had a chance to spread.

"This is really concerning," Siggy said, her voice filled with anxiety for both her daughters, but particularly for the newborn, a sentiment that Naruto noticed.

"It's not great, but it could definitely be worse," Naruto remarked as he reviewed his actions since the outbreak began. "I've made sure to separate the healthy women and children from the men, as the men might carry the illness without displaying any symptoms. I've also isolated the sick individuals, and they are being cared for by men who are wearing masks to cover their noses and mouths."

Naruto understood that his method wasn't a guaranteed solution to save everyone, but he believed it could at least prevent the disease from causing further division. To assist those afflicted, he even created two shadow clones to help them combat the plague.

"In the future, I need to establish some protocols to prevent this from recurring," Naruto quietly reflected, considering possible actions such as isolating those who participate in raids for a week or two before allowing them to return to the general community. "Additionally, the clothing of those who have recovered from this illness should be destroyed to eliminate any risk of the disease lingering. I’ll also require a week of quarantine for them to ensure they’re healthy."

Lagertha and the others found Naruto's suggestion to be somewhat extreme, yet they recognized that it could be essential. Siggy gazed at the tiny infant peacefully resting in her arms, then glanced at her older daughter, who was also cradling her own baby.

Siggy realized that the sole reason she and the others had avoided contracting the illness was that Naruto had kept them all in his house, where they were safe, with the exception of Lagertha.

Naruto's home is quite different from others; instead of being constructed from wood and straw, it is built from sturdy stone and metal. Additionally, it serves as his workshop for crafting weapons, with one section dedicated to blacksmithing and another designated as his living space.

The living space grew larger when he wed Thyri, and it expanded further with Siggy joining the household. Each woman had her own private room featuring a cozy bed, unlike the straw ones from before. These beds were constructed with fabric and wool, elevated on a frame instead of being placed directly on the floor.

The women all expressed their gratitude for the indoor plumbing and toilet facilities. Although Naruto didn’t elaborate on how they functioned, they attributed it to his peculiar magic.

"Even though some of us were unhappy with Naruto's decision to restrict our outings," Siggy reflected on that conversation, recalling how Lagertha, as expected, was frustrated by it. However, when Naruto presented her with the choice of either accepting his decision or facing the plague outside with her children, it silenced the shield maiden. "Still, I understand Naruto's reasoning; if any of us were to leave, we risk bringing the infection back to the group. At least he can use his magic to create copies of himself to go out, allowing him to still being able to govern and help the people without being directly exposed to the plague."

Siggy looked at Thyri glaring at Lagertha, she knew her daughter had some jealousy for the shield maiden seeing her as a threat to her marriage which on some level she was was but Lagertha is a married woman too so other than a physical relationship Thyri didn't have nothing to worry about.

"Considering we have nothing to occupy our time except eating, sleeping, and having sex, I'd be quite surprised if we ended up pregnant again," Siggy reflected. Normally, they wouldn’t sleep in their own rooms; instead, they would put the kids to bed in one room while using Naruto’s for their own activities. "Fortunately, it seems this illness won’t linger for long—typically, it lasts only a day or two. After someone contracts it, they either recover or succumb to it." Although that was a bleak thought, once this plague passes, they can heal from any losses and emerge even stronger.

A/N: In this chapter, the plague strikes Kattegat, but Naruto's quick actions help mitigate its impact. Thyri now feels threatened by Lagertha, who is taking on the role of a mistress rather than just a reluctant plaything. Meanwhile, Ragnar has taken Aslaug as his lover. As they prepare to return to Gotaland with King Horik's words, the outcome remains uncertain. Stay tuned for the next update, and thank you for your support on Patreon! Until next time.
