A Top 10 of Amusing Movie Deaths

"Dying is an art, like everything else." (Silvia Plath, Lady Lazarus)

"NO... NOT THE BEES... AAARGH!" (Nicolas Cage, The Wicker Man.)

**Apologies for describing The Field as British. Although technically a co-production, it really is more Irish.

Just a short listicle on a few amusing movie deaths. I know these short Top 10s are kind of frothy, but they're only meant as a bit of mindless fun.

This has been tricky to edit satisfactorily - I've realised many of the best deaths are gory (which YouTube hates) and long (which copyright owners hate). There is a family friendlier version, but as a Patreon cut it still includes a gory-ish additional entry that I can’t do much to censor. So if blood is your bête noire it might be worth going with the YouTube cut here.

I’m currently editing a more substantial video on the best worst martial arts movies, which is a subject I've wanted to tackle ever since I started this channel, so that will be next. (I'm also going to do a kind of behind-the-scenes video on the process of making a Borrowing Blockbusters for Patreon. It won't be like the usual stuff; no clips and no written script. I just thought it might be interesting to share, and as it's so simple it won't slow down the upcoming proper videos.)

Thank you as always!

A making of for your BB series sounds fantastic! Thanks Rob.

Nick Thornley

I love this - it made me take the Patreon plunge! Also how many of these cheapy deaths look like incredibly funny Monty Python sketches. Especially the fellow who blew up in the background of the ninja movie, by mind power.

Kevin Greer

Yeah this is a solid, social media friendly concept. More of these Top 10's for sure. One thing, that's your kid doing the countdown isn't it?

wise wolf

Actually you could include the many bizarre deaths of Anthony Zerbi as I'm a fan but if you consider the Omega Man, Licence to Kill and Star Trek inserraction alone it's like just ooph you see him on screen and think hope it's not another Milton Kriest death I think the only major role after star trek where he didn't die was the matrix reloaded

The Thinking Cat...Former Cthulhu Pofit Neo Normie and Masked fat guy but now a Cat ??

Great stuff. How about an awkward/inappropriate love interest in vanity projects top 10 next.

Darren Wood

Loved it. Been remixing that blood debt ending with so many movies I watched I can't count.

Danny Ménard

I just see the picture of Jimmy Williams in the thumbnail and my ears start ringing with 'TOOOOOOOONY!'.

Nils Muninsheim

Another glorious slowmotion death is provided by legendary character actor Christopher George, who as head villain Venarius in “Enter The Ninja” delivers quite the drawn out death spasm, when hit with a rather large ninja star.

Nicklas Thoft Jensen

Thats Mr. Bean!!!

ZeroZero Hero

Mine too.

I never know how much to get into a movie in videos like this. To be honest I don't really like just skipping over movies quickly, but I desperately wanted to avoid this video growing arms and legs!

Rob Hill

I squeezed that in right at the start. One of my favourites.

Rob Hill

My suggestion. The little person having his eyeballs explode out of his head because of forgetting to put in his holy ear-plugs to prevent werewolf magic in Howling II: Your Sister Is A Werewolf. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUrZnua3qIY

James Interactive

Yes, a series please Rob!

Si

Prophecy (1979) has a great one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8Sr_VBZNKo

Actually the most amazing death is actually in Animation Jaggy the pretender is killed by Ken Shiro in a fountain of blood gisering out the top of his head that was like a Scanner super cut it's far more impressive death of an utterly obnoxious guy and much more impressive then Chris Penn's Live action version.

The Thinking Cat...Former Cthulhu Pofit Neo Normie and Masked fat guy but now a Cat ??

I vote yes, more silly deaths, please!

Roger H.

That "Deadly Friend" clip made me laugh out loud, I'm not sure what that says about me...

Teddy2tuff

Yes, I'd love to see more episodes like this, Rob! Only I'd also like a bit of context for why this ridiculous scenes are happening that way if known....

Timothy Liebe

Not quite as memorable as Leo Fong punching a guy's head so hard it turns into cake in LOW BLOW (Red Letter Media shows this scene at https://youtu.be/JPfamikeU3E?t=2501 )—but pretty good nonetheless.

Timothy Liebe

Rob could've done an entire list of just Sean Bean Death Scenes. As soon as I saw he was leading off with Sean Bean, you knew the Trope Was Strong....

Timothy Liebe

A perfect fillip of life failures. As it were.

Ned Raggett

Great video! The 2b one really caught me off guard, but the Deadly Friend death scene was quite a pallet cleanser. I also wonder if 10 was Sean Bean's first death scene in a movie or show. But my favorite one is Hard Ticket to Hawaii.

DocLantern85

well done rob. excellent writing and timing.

M Robert

We just can't get enough of Sean Bean dying in movies, apparently. He made it all the way through the Napoleonic wars with barely a scratch, but cows, game over man, game over...

Matthew

Oh happy day! I just managed to find a copy of the Bad Movie Bible for slightly less than the Bolivian national debt.

Matthew

Considering overly long and drawn out death scenes, there is that one from Lethal Games, were a guy get shot over and over with a shotgun while practically "dancing" in slowmo over what sounds like the looping struggle of of a underpaid 80s composer torturing his Casio. Probably made it sound more interesting than it is, but here you go.

KnightmareAlpha

Every so often I find myself saying "Naughty this!" during conversation

THE HAPPENING HOT DOG MAN

I have "Garbage Day!" set as my 6pm Thursday reminder to take my bin to the street and it never gets old.

Eli Harold

So…..Bolo Yeung’s head…is a bowling/cannon ball…..that only looks like that after he’s been kicked to the ground….but is also a watermelon…..a black watermelon……a bald watermelon with no facial features…..but it’s definitely his head. Did I get that right?

Allan Hutton

Shocked to see Rekha bend her own wife in 2(b)

Ricardo P-Man

Glorious stuff, thank you. Executed by slow-motion close-ups is how I always wanted to go.

Matthew

Delighted to see Sean Bean's bovine denouement in there

THE HAPPENING HOT DOG MAN

What an excellent snack, while we're waiting for the next main attraction. Martial arts films are my favorite way to consume trash films, by a considerable margin.
