It’s funny you mention using your surroundings as ideas for films; there was a local welder from my hometown that had a bunch of giant metal sculptures around his property. There was spiders, Dino-skeletons and more. Then, about 15 years ago, a friend from my hometown won a short film contest on SyFy that helped him make a feature film and sure enough in the climax, he filmed on that old welder’s property, thus utilizing the sculptures.
