Testing Has Begun, New Update ETA & Dev Thoughts
Added 2024-03-19 02:00:03 +0000 UTCHey there, Halftilt here. Testing for the final Phase of Episode 1 has just begun!
Thank you all so much for your patience!!! And with testing having started, that means that the releases should be starting about a week from now.
Upcoming Trip
On that note, I'll be taking a short break about a week from now. My wife and I are taking a trip to CA and I'll be bringing my laptop with me to chat and to troubleshoot what I can while I'm away.
I should be back in Mid-April, hopefully, but we ARE taking a Boeing to get to our destination, so fingers crossed our plane makes the trip lol.
Dev Thoughts
There are a few things that I wanted to mention as well, none of it in any particular order.
Mostly, I wanted to mention that there's been some changes in my design philosophy for Light-Space Love. As I mentioned before, there's been some changes in the team and the feedback I've gotten from them, from people that I trust and from the that community has motivated this shift.
While I feel like the project has come a long way from its very first version in Godot, I feel like there's even more I can do for the game -- and they've helped me realize that.
So, what does that mean?
It doesn't mean much is changing in terms of the roadmap. That still holds true -- though some things may be out of order now and some things may "look different" from how they were initially described too.
What it mostly means is that I'll be using the end of each episode as a sort of "reflection" point, which will involve listening to the community, listening to feedback, doing tons of playtesting and making changes based on what makes sense, what feels good and getting rid of placeholders and so on.
I've received tons of feedback, and a lot of it is very good. I just haven't taken the time to actually grok it all and figure out what the feedback means. In my eyes, a huge part of development is analysis. And I want to dedicate more time to doing that -- especially seeing so many people are taking the time to show that they want to see Light-Space Love succeed.
I'm going through the sign-ups right now, and it's actually really exciting seeing what everyone has to say.
Other than that, it should serve as a good break for myself to slow things down and it'll serve as a sort of "reset point" so I can avoid getting burnt out on the project -- after all, we are a very small team working (mostly) in our spare time, and the fact that you're all willing to support this project means everything!
