The Farmer's Daughter

Blame Garth Brooks and his song 'That Summer' for this one.

TEXT

Jonah and Zachary were two teenage boys earning some summer money working on the Brown’s produce farm, as well as some course credits through the work-school program at their high school. Both boys were friends, having formed a bond as ‘the Benchwarmers’, the part-time jocks that only got to play when it didn’t really matter. But that didn’t bother them, plus for Jonah it gave him an escape from his rough family life, and Zach was just content with the friendship the two had formed.

The two high school Seniors had actually traveled across the state for the opportunity and both boys would rack up enough credits that in the fall when they went back to school ,they could spend most of their time just goofing off in study hall instead of in a classroom! The job, while hard work, was actually pretty nice! The bunkhouse was quality, the food the farmer's wife, Mrs. Brown, cooked was excellent and they were learning plenty of great skills...even if they didn't plan on working on farms as their career for life. The farmer, Bob aka Mr. Brown, was actually a good guy who taught through positive reinforcement and learning while doing. They didn’t even mind that it was particularly hot outside! The only crappy part was that because they were a thousand miles from nowhere…there were no babes around! And Mrs. Brown wasn’t exactly a looker (even if she and Mr. Brown weren’t, y’know, truly all that old).

Today’s lack of babe-age was no different as the two teens moved among the farm’s vast array of produce, sharing turns pushing the creaky blue wheelbarrow that they had been saddled with. Mr. Brown wasn’t on the farm today due to helping out a friend with a tractor problem, but the two boys were supposed to walk the fields and make sure the plants were all leafy, healthy, and to harvest some to fill up the wheelbarrow. It had taken all day and the sun was beginning to dip towards the horizon as the boys made their final trip out into the humid evening air.

"Ugh I'm SO tired!" Jonah groaned as they reached the final grove of vibrant green plants. Here were the watermelons and other crops that required a lot of, well, water to grow in the blistering summer heat. The teenager let the wheelbarrow drop to the ground with a loud clang before pouring himself into it and taking a break.

Zachary chuckled, wiping the sweat from his brow. "Tell me about it, man. But hey, we're almost done for the day. Just a few more watermelons to gather, and then we can call it quits."

Jonah let out a sigh of relief, his tired muscles aching from the day's work. He looked over at the rows of watermelons and muttered, "Yeah, just a few more."

As they started picking the watermelons and placing them in the wheelbarrow, Zachary's mischievous grin appeared. "Hey, Jonah," he said with a playful glint in his eye, "you know, it's too bad you're not the farmer's daughter. Would make this job a lot more fun, don't you think?"

Jonah raised an eyebrow, giving Zachary a look that was equal parts confusion and amusement. "Dude, what are you even talking about?"

Zachary shrugged, still grinning. "I mean, it's just that this whole farm thing could use a bit more excitement, you know? Like, a pretty girl to lighten things up."

Jonah chuckled and shook his head. "You're super weird, dude". But as the two teens started to go about picking the watermelons, something very strange began to happen. To Zach, Jonah suddenly looked...smaller? and frozen in place sitting in the wheelbarrow.

"Hey, are you okay?" Zachary asked, concern evident in his voice.

Zach's trembling voice, once deep and rough, softened into a melodic and feminine tone as he spoke. "Zach, something's happening to me."

Jonah's hair, once dark and tousled, began to brighten, gradually turning a vibrant shade of blonde. His facial features softened, his jawline becoming more delicate, and his cheeks taking on a subtle flush. The muscles in his body seemed to rearrange themselves, resulting in a more slender and curvaceous form. His clothing underwent a miraculous transformation too, shifting from the worn-out and masculine work clothes to work clothes that were far less drenched in sweat and far more fashionable. Zachary's eyes widened in disbelief, his lips parting as he struggled to find words. He watched as Jonah's transformation continued, rendered speechless by the sight of his friend becoming someone entirely new – someone breathtakingly beautiful. The change seemed to focus on Jonah's face, refining his features further. His eyes, which had been a warm shade of brown, turned a brilliant shade of blue, reflecting the sky on a clear summer day. His lips, once chapped from the heat, became plump and inviting, and a radiant smile graced his new countenance. As the transformation concluded, there was no trace of Jonah left in the gorgeous girl that was now laying in the wheelbarrow.

Zachary's eyes widened as he took in the transformation. "Jonah? Is that really you?"

The blonde girl blinked several times before letting out a high pitched giggle. "Oh sweetie, my name's Joanna, silly!". She brushed a long lock of blonde hair out of her face while smiling at the totally cute boy that was standing in front of her.

Zachary's jaw practically hit the ground. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. "Joanna? What happened to Jonah?" Zach's mind was racing. This couldn't be real, could it? He had just been joking around with Jonah a moment ago, and now he was face-to-face with a gorgeous blonde who seemed to have no memory of their previous life. "Um, Jona-err, Joanna, do you remember anything about before?" he asked cautiously.

Jessica's delicate eyebrows furrowed as she dramatically placed a finger on her chin. "Well, I remember my dad's been gone ALL day and won't be home until late, and supper ain't for another hour..." He voice was filled with mischief as she slowly pulled herself out of the wheelbarrow and walked with a seductive confidence towards Zach.

Zach swallowed hard, trying to process everything and the strange feeling of attraction and unease. "This is insane. Are you sure you're okay?"

Joanna's smile was suggestive as she slid her slender arms around the stunned teenager. "Oh, I'm more than okay, handsome. How about you...start grabbing some melons?" Joanna guided Zach's hands to her new breasts before pulling him in for a deep kiss as the two fell to the soft ground between the watermelons. The job suddenly became hotter...and MUCH more fun.
