Another little AI TG. As with the last time, I love Natalie Portman, so she ends up being the basis of most of the transformations I try to do using Stable Diffusion. My apologies if this one is a little cursed, though, but it's easily one of the best actual morphs I've gotten out of it.
Plus Jane's whole 'cancer' story, especially with the concept of a Multiverse like Marvel, simply has so many ways of solving it beyond her just picking up Mjolnir and becoming Mighty Thor and then going to Valhalla. So Along with her becoming a Hulk, why not let her explore the rejuvenating powers of Groot?
Anyway, just a fun little What If story. Hope you enjoyed!
TEXT
Jane was dying. She had been brought back by the Hulk's courageous Snap of the Infinity Stones only to soon after be diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Incurable, they had called it, and despite her treatments, even Jane knew it was only a matter of time before her body rotted and withered away. She had spent the first few days pondering her fate, taking in the renewed world around her and finding herself not drawn to the stars or science...But the simple majest of nature and how it renewed itself after every fire, every flood, every harsh winter and even nuclear disaster! If only there was a way to bring that renewal into herself, to regrow her body from within! But that was only in the realm of science fiction and plant people didn't exis-
Wait. They DID exist! In fact, the world, the very galaxy, had been saved by one! This crazy idea of hers just might actually work!
It took some doing (and more than one uncomfortable conversation with...Him...), but Jane was able to convince the Guaridans of the Galaxy to return to Earth and allow Jane to inspect the walking tree creature called 'Groot'. The mossy amalgam of bark and tendrils was stubborn at first, almost afraid of her as she'd approached him with various sample taking equipment! But with a little mean-spirited nudging from the man-child called 'Starlord' and Jane's own promise of some video games, Groot had finally relented to her scraping off various bits of bark, moss, the green fluid that must have been his blood...The works! And Groot himself had even given her an seed of some kind! Success!
But after the Guardians had left on their spaceship (and taking Him with them, thankfully), Jane was suddenly at a loss. She was no biology major! So with help from the Hulk, Pepper Potts, Darcy and the Wakandans, soon enough the weakening Jane had created a serum that would, in theory, rejuvenate her cells and essentially 'out grow'her cancer! Despite the warnings from Banner, Pepper, Darcy and even Princess Shuri of Wakanda calling for further tests, Jane drank the serum in it's entirety. It wasn't like she had the time for more tests, and what was the worst thing it could do? She was a dead woman already, this would just...speed up the process if they were all wrong. She had agreed to get them to leave the lab they were using for the night, and then she had ingested the experimental serum.
Immediately Jane could tell that something WAS wrong, as pain gripped her body. She felt her skin grow numb, her bones stiffening in place as she was soon completely immobilized! Her skin began to grow ugly lesions that spread in dark clumps across her body, making her look as if she had grown some form of fungus across her entire body! And the lesions were soon covered by damp looking moss and leaves! And within only a few minutes, her vision was gone! Jane was terrified, especially since she was alone! Her mind began to slow, each thought grinding to a crawl until she could barely think at all, and her last thought before the darkness closed around her was of...Thor, and all the things she wished that she could have said. Then silence and darkness took over.
Soon there was nothing more than a vaguely woman shaped tree standing in the laboratory. Which is what Bruce Banner discovered the next morning when he arrived, ready to do more tests to save his friend's loved one. He'd immediately contacted Shuri, and despite their ocmbined brilliance there was nothing they could do. Jane was now just a tree, one that was rapidly wilting due to the sterile environment of the lab. With no other options available, Bruce had lifted the Foster Tree up, cared it outside of the lab's compound, and buried it in the soil as best he could. And then the heroes went their separate ways, ashamed at their failure and angry that Jane had done something so stupid. But Pepper made sure to buy the facility and put up a small memorial to the fallen scientist, to ensure that if nothing else, the organism that she had become would not be cut down. Of course, had they stuck around for a week...They would have watched as the former body of Jane Foster began to creak and groan and move all on it's own! The trunk twisted and turned almost as if Jane was swinging her hips, and the large branches flexed and curled in and out like grasping fingers! And with a final loud groan that echoed from within her bark, Jane split open! And out from the gaping, sap-dripping crack rolled a small green figure! It lay on the lawn of the lab for an hour before it finally staggered to it's feet, looking around in a combination of wonder and horror at it's small, soft, but very much alive, body.
"I am Groot!" Jane Foster said in her throaty new voice. And it would be the only things she'd ever be able to say again. But her cancer was gone, and she was alive! That was victory enough.
