Lana sat listlessly in her tiny apartment, staring out at the mostly empty streets below. So this was what life was in a Pandemic, huh? The massive wave of Lockdowns had just gone into effect and Lana, like everyone else, had ended up stuck at home with nothing to do but binge Tiger King on Netflix. But even with working from home and the relaxed lifestyle that came with it, Lana was a people person and the isolation was driving her nuts! Socially distant grocery shopping was the closest she could get to going to a club with her friends!
"Ugh, this sucks!" The top heavy brunette groaned as she paced her apartment for the millionth time this morning. Given her apartment's regulations, she didn't even have a dog or cat to keep her company! Instead all she had was a singular goldfish that floated dumbly in the small bowl on the kitchen counter. Lana went over and collapsed into one of the bar stools, staring forlornly at the small fish. "Man, you have it so easy. What do they say, you guys only have a three second memory? Must be the life, just swimming all day and not worrying about a thing. Wish I could experience that..."
"Granted!" Came a tiny, high pitched voice from the other end of the counter, and Lana saw a small, pink figure waving a tiny wand at her before vanishing in a flash of light! And then Lana ciouldn't breathe! She gasped for air as the world grew around her, and some unknown instinct in her brain drew her towards the strangely empty fishbowl. She put two slimy, webbed hands on the rim of the glassware and used all of her muscles, her tail flopping vigorously side to side as she struggled for survival, her mouth opening and closing soundlessly as her eyes bulged painfully from the sides of her elongating head. And then with a final heavy of her now boneless body, Lana felt the cool, life-giving waters of the fishbowl surround her, and she took a large, deep gill-full of water as she righted her long, finned body, catching a glimpse of her golden form in the bowl's reflection!
'Oh no! Oh god, I'm a goldfish! Please, someone help...me...huh?' Lana's tiny brain panicked before suddenly the thought vanishing. She swam lazily back and forth in the bowl, not really thinking about anything in particular. Gone were the worries of work, the Pandemic, not partying with her friends, it had all just been replaced by a simple desire to swim, eat, and maybe mate if she happened to see another goldfish around. Lana didn't even mind the massive face that appeared at the side of her bowl, staring in at her before a equally massive hand sprinkled some dried out flakes into the top of her transparent home.
Goldie watched as Lana began pecking at the fish food. The former goldfish hadn't expected to become human, but was happy to be one! Anything was better than being stuck in that tiny bowl! Of course, Goldie would discover that, now a member of the human race during a Pandemic, she had just traded one tiny bowl for another!
