That new song.

So, due to some weird ass fan content limitations from cover corp, i'm not taking any chances. I do not want to end up like that one holobass guy, so I'm writing a blogpost about the 'making of' instead.

Long story short, a Gura remix was going to happen regardless of what her first single was going to be like. If you know, you know.  Thankfully, though. The song was fuckin great.

Regardless, I never expected it to be a collab with one of the biggest hololive fan animators, nor did I expect her to ask me to use it as BGM while playing a racing game, NOR did I expect her to shout me out like she did. Cool stuff.

Right as the song dropped, I was perusing twitter before sinking my teeth into the song, only to spot a tweet by Tian Nya, saying he'd make a eurobeat remix of the song as well. One thing led to another and the next thing you know we're making that into a collab.

We split the work, he'd do ""some midi sketching"" and I'd do the producing part. Well, his midi sketches basically ended up being a midi outline for the entire first half of the song. By the time he sent me the midi, I was already headfirst into outlining the basics of the arrangement. Drums, bass, chords, so on.

I arranged the midi to further fit the song, added a bit of my own spice in the mix. Originally, the idea was to take the Jaws-like "dun dun dun dudun" part, and make that into the 'drop' or whatever, but we ended up deciding for the chorus melody instead, as it worked perfectly. The intro still remains as menacing as it was in the original, much contrary to how eurobeat usually works, but to be honest, I prefer that, so did Tian. I see no reason to fight a good arrangement for the sake of ""what the genre is supposed to be"". That's just stupid.

To those with a keener ear, you might've noticed that none of the 'drops' sound like each other. The first one is basic, the second is a guitar solo, and the third one has an alternate melody, courtesy of Tian Nya.

One of the favorite things in any remix I've ever done has to be the second verse though. Of all the songs in the world, the one I took inspiration for that was Children of The Grave by Black Sabbath. Ever since I heard the original, I couldn't help but to hear the intro riff on top of it. And something about a cute and funny 2D aaneemay girl singing in a pretty dainty voice over Black Sabbath just gives me infinite amounts of amusement. Well, the final product had more of a psy-trance vibe, but hell, it still sure puts a smile on my face.

Honestly, I took a lot of new approaches while making this song. Adding layers that don't quite belong, choosing sounds I wouldn't have otherwise. Took me ages but boy was it worth it. I'm not sure when I'll find the drive to pump out new projects like I did a year and a half ago, but I'm sure that'll happen soon enough. I'm just loading my guns before going to battle... or something profound along those lines.

And to top the project off, Tian made a sick animation to go with the song. What a legend.

Anyhow, I've been busy, once again. Making some vtuber music once more, but this time it ain't a fan project. Stay tuned. Cheers fellas.

P.S. Let me know if you prefer these sorts of write-ups, and whether ya want me to go more in depth as to how I've made the stuff. I'd love to/I actually kinda have to offer something more on patreon, but nothing that limits the essential content I create.

That new song.

Love to read that. If you like writting this in-depth stuff please continue.

Cool stuff, cool stuff indeed. (Also, was that a hint about an "official" vtuber song? nani?!?)

Yeah interesting write-up

That was very interesting to read, please more of that on future. I love the Remix. Probably became one of my favorite of all your remixes. It's amazing.
