Melon, I don't understand how this qualifies as filler. It takes you on an emotional roller coaster. Maybe going back to this episode out of order makes it feel like filler, but from a story perspective while watching it in order this is a major episode. Even with your foreknowledge, it was obviously an intense moment for you several times while you were watching. This episode establishes a lot of ground rules for the season. Pilaf gang is back with their, granted inferior, dragon radar to make it a real race to find the dragon balls. It introduces the Red Ribbon Army, which isn't just this season's main villain, but still has an impact on the story arc all the way through the Tournament of Power. No RRA, no Android 17 or 18. If you don't "need" to watch this episode, I'm curious as to how much you've found to be something that you've felt you "needed" to watch, and how much you felt was just filler?
