This is one episode were you might want to switch to the japanese track and check out the vocal song that plays during this fight. Its really good and sets the theme and mood. Unfortantly it was not included in the Eng dub.

Yeah but it doesn't turn into a light show this early like Melon assumed. The entireity of Dragon ball still focuses alot on martial arts which is why i love it.

Yup! It's explained pretty early on the tremendous speeds at which they fight. In fact, as early on as in this very tournament arc just a couple episodes ago in the Krillin vs. Roshi fight. Remember that entire fight that they broke down and went over to the crowd jokingly and re-enacted? For us the viewer and crowd, it passed by instantly in real time basically, but when they broke it down, it took minutes. So in a way they're "Slowing" the fight down to normal speeds without a "slo-mo" effect so we can keep up, but otherwise, the real fight as most people would see it would look just like the tournament moment or when the Z fighters say they can't see someone's movements and it's just a dash on the screen, in that dash on a screen is probably a lot of fighting going on super fast. The speeds are already established to be beyond the human eye.

Freeza fight really is only 5 mins they just move so fast the show is slowed down for us along with cell fight being hour or less at most if you seen new super hero movie that came out in the movies they show how fast trucks kills freeza even thought it takes 2 anime episodes in new movie they have recorded that 5 seconds but 2 episodes in the anime and buu saga takes place from tournament to end of buu only one afternoon

also you're so on point about martial arts being much better than the lights show that DBS became. My favorite fights are the martial arts fights

If you want to witness it, you should search for "Mezase Tenkaichi". Both the Dub reconstruction, to see how great it fits in, and the English adaptation, to see the lyrics.
