Adult games are being targeted again...

Hey everyone.

Recently, there have been news regarding adult games being shadow banned or even removed from platforms like steam and itch. This is due to certain groups lobbying with payment processors to refuse service to (and put pressure on) platforms that host adult, hentai or NSFW games. Even traditional digital platforms from japan, where the adult game industry originates from, has been suffering from detrimental news like these as well.

Sadly, this kind of thing has been happening for decades, and seems to repeat itself every few years or so; that is, a general mainstream moral panic/scare which ultimately puts pressure on adult content in general, but particularly so against pornographic games.

And even more particularly so when it comes to creators like me, which choose to create more "niche" content (such as vore), so even in cases where adult games that have a more vanilla content might get a pass, my games will be more scrutinized due to their fringe content. This saddens me.

It is honestly so disheartening every time this happens. And I feel sorry for my fellow game developers, artists and content creators in general. It is a stark reminder that, unfortunately, working with any kind of adult content means that you're never truly "safe", and is the reason I never made the jump to being a full time adult creator, because there is no true long term stability or job/financial safety. It's always on the back of my mind: "It's gonna happen to me any day now..."

And to that last point, at least for now, I'll keep going and moving forward as usual. And that is thanks to you, yes you reading this right now. Your direct support, and/or kind words of encouragement make me stay motivated. So once again, let me give you my sincerest thanks and appreciation!

But here is the thing: even tough Patreon as a platform does have a sincere wish to support creators to be independent, it can also be pressured by the same mainstream forces on a whim. And in fact, it has already been in the past, with many fellow artists having been banned before from this platform, all because of their content.

I never feel 100% safe to do what I love most. It always feel like I'm being judged and under attack just for choosing put my creations out in the open, to reach those who share my enjoyment of the content. Who knows for how long that will be allowed to last?

To be clear, for now I'll continue as usual. As I've been saying in my previous posts, I've fully regained my motivation recently, and I'm going strong, with the development towards version 1.0 going very well. So I'm in a good and happy place now. Also thanks to all the fans here.

But again, it is so deeply disheartening when these kind of news happen, again and again.

So thank you for your support, and here's hoping that I may be allowed to continue creating fun content and doing what I love.

Wishing you the best,
Mega

Chiming in to say it might be worth setting yourself up with a SubscribeStar account, as they've been a lot more resilient about dropping folks based on their content. At the least it might be good to keep them in mind in case you need to pivot from here.
