Y'all are both right, Terrell is right that Kanye could've invested in Coodie like he did ye. But Terrance is also right that Kanye is his own person and can make his own decisions and was brave to try to work with hype Williams. But the difference is (and Coodie predicted this) Hype tried adding his won spin on what Kanye wanted and Hype tried pulling his name on Kanye, Coodie was saying that he'll just record and let Kanye be Kanye all the way. But also Kanye could've brought Coodie along, Kanye went on to say that Chi town helps each other out, Coodie helped promote Ye at his own comedy shows, spread the word with those college kids, but in that moment Kanye left loyalty for a big name.

I agree with Terrell. I see where Terrance coming from, but in the context of the Kanye situation he was about to be a rising superstar. Doing a video with your mans woulda boosted both of their careers. It was gonna be a W regardless so he shoulda just went with his homie

Good lookin y’all for the longer vid!! My comment finna be a lil longer too lmao. Shit was great as always, and this episode of the doc was great too. Y’all had some differing opinions on shit and I gotta say while both y’all was makin sense wit yo points, I found myself siding wit most of what Terrance was sayin. Not gon lie Terrell you was trippin a lil 😂😂 first off this episode was just as inspiring I thought. Watchin everything Kanye went thru wit the accident, him trynna get his album a release date, him makin through the wire, and then towards the end of the episode when it was the New Years party and Coodi and Donda sayin ‘04 jus gon get better…I was like damn. How could you not be inspired by that. And to think that was only his debut album lol. When it comes to the Jesus walks video situation I understand where both y’all comin from but again I agree wit Terrance. If you really your boy’s homie you gon be happy for him that he got on a stage to where he can do a video with hype. Yea u might be hurt that u ain’t doin the vid but you’ve had the opportunity to do other fire vids, through the wire, and you’ve got to be in rooms and positions that you have to thank Kanye for getting you there. Now should he have had that convo privately and not in the studio, yes. But you still gotta have that convo to allow yourself as the one wit the dream to reach the levels u see for yourself. At the end of the day, yea u got yo niggas that’s been wit u since the beginning but you really don’t owe them shit when it comes to making decisions that’s gonna affect your life and your career. It ain’t like Kanye dropped Coodi for good, he jus had to spread his wings a lil bit wit an established director. Anyways I’m lookin forward to y’all’s reaction to the next episode and also congrats on that feature from the HotNewHipHop on y’all’s opinions on Black film!! Super dope🍾 9!!

I think you're both right. I felt bad for Coodie too and I understand where Terrell is coming from, but Kanye is the artist so he has to do whatever he believes is best for his art whether we agree with it or not. Just like Coodie (and Chike) had full creative control for this doc and didn't let Kanye have the final cut. Kanye was at least able to put his ego aside to reshoot the video with Coodie even after spending a lot of money. But you're 10000% right when you mentioned Kanye should've built up and invested in Coodie because he could've been the next Hype. I believe a more seasoned Kanye would've done that, the same way he did for Virgil when it came to fashion. Kanye took Virgil with him to the Fendi internship and they both ended up running fashion.

Nah. Ye didn’t like his situation with Hype & went back to Coodie. KD didn’t like his situation in Golden State, moved on & now Brooklyn isn’t going great either. Sometimes the grass isn’t greener. Simple. Should’ve stuck with Coodie until Coodie gave him a reason to go elsewhere🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️everything was working!! Don’t fix what’s not broken

I agree with both of y'all fr. There are times when during your creative process/journey when you want a certain level of work and your homies can't do that for you. But Ye was wrong cause they way it came out he definitely made coodie seem like he was trash. And not to mention coodie did just make a top video for you so idk

ye an coodie had to split in order to get the Jesus walk video we have today because once ye left, coodie went and got music video expierience with chike. and ye realized what type of video he didn't want.

Apparently Kanye has had a film crew with him at all times, that’s how the video of his convo with Taylor Swift about the “famous” line came out. I’d much rather see graduation, mbdtf footage than so much college dropout footage

The situation with hype is the same with KD when he was with okc. Of course Durant was playing with a great player aka Westbrook and would’ve made the conference finals many time. But sometimes you gotta leave yo mans and chase that ring in order to solidify your greatness.

Yeah I agree with Terrell on this one. You don’t do that to your homies.

They released both videos and Coodie got to expand his vision with other artist. I wish you guys would of talked about how Sunday service was started because he created it almost 20 years before he introduced it to us. Also the doc showed us how he can market himself the best.

Terrell got it, I definitely understand wanting to grow ya brand, but that party analogy is perfect, however I will say by Ye allowing Coodie to do all his vids, it opened up opportunities for Coodie to do vids for John Legend etc so Ye isn’t obligated to have Coodie on everything, what woulda been great is if Ye had Hype do the vid but still introduced Coodie to Hype so that Coodie could learn and network as well considering Hype was the best person in the game for the field Coodie was in, that’s how you help grow ya man’s career, he didn’t have to have him do the vid but just having him on set with Hype woulda been dope to get his name out there like the artists who shouted out Ye. We lucky Ye even talked to Coodie about it before hand tho cause in 2022, lotta people woulda been on they Kyrie KD wave and just made the vid with Hype and not said anything
