I loved your guys review/reaction. I personally loved this album, especially since it seems to be a part of The Weeknd's new trilogy, After Hours, Dawn FM and apparently the next album is After Life. This album sounds so great and I personally cannot wait to try to see it in person, def a concert album. There are many Weeknd "fans" who hated this album off the jump and just want Trilogy Weekend back.. why? That is not his lifestyle anymore and he already made that amazing album, so just go back to it. Loved how you guys were open to the album. Great review

And while your stuck in traffic they’ve got a radio station playing in the car, with a radio host guiding you to the light and transitioning to the other side. GREAT breakdown! I think you guys should check out the music videos for Gasoline and Sacrifice aswell cause it explains the story a lot. In Gasoline for example you see the old weeknd trying to warn his younger self for what he is doing to himself. But the young weeknd beats up the old weeknd (his soul) and the people around him (as in “we”, the audience) loving it and couldn’t care less if it fucks up his soul and his future (relationships).

Love the review, my take on this album is that he OD’d after the song gasoline and is doing one of two things: fw someone in purgatory OR reminiscing about them in purgatory.

The end where you guys say you can play it backward makes so much sense. Really you can play it backward and forwards, endlessly going through cycles of sin, reflection, and regret. That's why Abel's in purgatory, always headed towards the light but never making it until he breaks the cycle. Also why he looks so old and tired on the cover because he's been there so long.
