"Realistic": The style I usually go for when drawing characters from live action shows and movies where I try my best to capture the characters likeness, with varied results.
"Simpler/Cartoony": My simpler style or when I try to match a certain cartoony style.

I would say it depends on the source you are going off, if it's live action source the realistic works best and for simple animation the simple/cartoon style works well
