Will hits the nail on the head with regard to our Fascist moment in history. I forget where the concept comes from but I remember a bit of theory that said under fascism society is comprised of the in group that law protects but does not bind and the out group the law binds but does not protect. You can absolutely see that with regards to Jewish students needing to feel safe at all times while anyone with an off white skin tone is subject to deportation for even mild criticism.
