so this might be some minor spoilers as i'm not sure if they are going to explain it later in this season or not but at this point its already known in the novel.
just felt like i had to mention this since i feel the show was kinda bad at portraying it.
at this point in the novel Niel has been at the brink of losing control for at least 1-2 months (we see him buy the ingredients listed in an earlier episode). Niel has been listening to the ramblings of the hidden sage for at least that long now and has been corrupted without knowing it in the hope of reviving his wife. in the novel Niel talks to Klein about stuff that has never happened and the only reason Klein doesn't notice is because he hasn't been a Nighthawk for long and doens't know everything he should yet and he hasn't known Niel for long enough so he doesn't know what signs to look for.
what pushes Niel to lose control is when he learns about the acting method from Klein and realizes that (in his mind) he might have been able to save his wife back then if he was a higher sequence.
losing control doesn't have to be the person just turning into a monster but really any changes in a person from the norm can be signs of losing control as it can be a sign of the madness hidden beneath (losing control is more like varying degrees of madness before you completetly lose yourself and becoming a monster is just one way it can end up). for example in this episode when Niel suddently proposes to go to a resturant to celebrate with him paying for it was at least in the novel an obvious sign that something is wrong with him as that is far from his usual personality.
also the reason Niels death doesn't hit that hard is probably because the anime has been really quick in its plot development and has skipped a lot of scenes they probably should have kept to give him more character than just comic relief. the novel at this point really is a slowburn story and the show actually skips a majority of the first book with really just focusing on the milestones so i highly recommend reading the webnovel at some point.
also just commenting on the stuff you said about the sequences in this episode. Daly is a sequence 7 spirit medium, the same sequence level as Dunn who is a sequence 7 Nightmare. just because spirit medium sounds similar to the Spirit warlock of the Deacon doesn't mean they belong to the same sequence pathway. it should have already been mentioned but spirit medium belongs to the Corpse collector pathway while both Nightmare and Spirit warlock belongs to Sleepless.
also sorry if this has already know this as it might have been mentioned in the comments over on youtube and its been some time since this video was posted.

Hi loved the reaction and am still catching up with Orb as well,
As a novel reader, i can address your question you've had at the beginning of this reaction (No spoilers):
The seer pathway so far has: Seer (Sequence 9) and Clown (Sequence 8). The clown that Klein and his fellow nighthawks fought was indeed a sequence 7 seer pathway (Name to be revealed later). Maybe Youtube comments have clarified this question so forgive me if this is not new information to you.
The clown earlier was just dressed up as one, perhaps as used as foreshadowing for subsequent potion advancement for Klein (now at Sequence 8). Also, i highly discourage looking into wiki as there is a lot of spoilers.
Loving Orb/Lotm reactions and best regards,
