Great episode! SPOILERS ahead if anyone is reading and haven't seen the season in full! There's a lot in this show which you can catch on re-watching, due to the time loop nature of it. I definitely didn't foresee Mami dying back when it released - it predates Attack on Titan by 2 or 3 years - so it definitely can hit pretty hard with some of its punches if you don't have a lot of anime under your belt! The broken teacup after Mami dies is such a dark touch too. I'm curious to see the rest of your reactions and see when you figure out some of the plot points - like why Madoka's potential is so much more than any other girl and other neat surprises! It's interesting to hear your thoughts last episode too, about being 2 episodes in without Madoka being a magical girl - I think if you had been watching the OP, you'd be even more shocked at just how far the show goes on before she finally gets to make a wish, given how strongly the OP alludes to her being a magical girl.
