I'm guessing Unit 02 was neutralising the AT Field. Which allowed the explosives to work. Also keep up with the heavy handed puberty parallels. Last time I properly watched NGE I was the same age as all the pilots so I couldn't see the wood for the trees, shall we say 😅

2025-03-26 21:52:41 +0000 UTCpart of the fascination with eva is how it takes these utterly insane specualtive concepts but surrounds them with a detialed idea of how we'd react and drawing all the logistics involved and well, some of the equipment is at least based on real world stuff pre second impact classic does simply mean its a ship from before the second imapct, before the evangelion timeline diverged that much from reality so its basically a repurposed realistic warship
