You really can't talk about the third installment of the steins gate series without talking about it's upcoming reboot this year ...and you really can't talk about the reboot without going into anonymous code ...and you can't talk about that unless you talk about the details and the over arching theme of the sci adventure series as a whole.

But yeah...with the Alpha and Beta lines, the end result is generally not pretty, there's more than just the Alpha and Beta world lines through the supplemental materials and 'bad ends(?)' in the VN. But this is the general rundown, this isn't spoiling too much considering you're near the end.
Alpha World Line
- Will eventually lead into a dystopia controlled by Sern.
Beta World Line
- Will result in World War 3 because of the great powers fighting, it is unclear if anyone achieves the ability to time travel outside of Okabe's group.
Gamma World Line
- Okabe becomes a rounder in this timeline and works under Sern, they will eventually achieve time travel and Okabe will rise up their ranks to become dictator of Japan.
Delta World Line
- Generally a pretty peaceful timeline all things considered, was used more for one of the spinoff games.
Omega World Line
- Created when Okabe tried to undo the change himself when Faris sent the D-Mail to save her father.
- This sends him to another timeline where the future gadget lab doesn't exist and Okabe does not know any of the members except for Faris, who he ends up dating.
Steins Gate World Line
- Is their intended destination to escape Sern and World War 3.
- Robotics Notes takes place in this world line.
- It is unclear just how safe this timeline is since Steins God isn't out yet, Steins God is the third entry in this particular series.

I believe it to be a fixed point for two reasons: It caused the initial okabe to go to the alpha worldline and kurisu's significance as she is the one that wrote the paper on time travel

Yeah, that might be, but why? It is just a convenience zo get a happy ending :(

My guess is the reason it's a fixed point is because the important fixed point is okabe seeing kurisu dead rather than kurisu being dead. Only okarin needs to be tricked because the chain of events it triggers is what really matters.

That par tis so iffy, like, why can he one time destroy the paper and not the other? I think the show even makes an argument for all of it being predetermined in the end, which is against the free Steins;Gate timeline as well, it is just a confused cocktail of idea to me. I like that they got a happy ending, but Mayushi/Krista and Server/Paper were the same idea. Suzuha could not change stuff with timetravel, why can okarin? I think would have not written in the time where we see Krista die and the reveal be she always played possum and never died (which is also iffy but at least a bit less). I guess we needed shadow future Okarin because he was cool? :D

What will change the future is not saving Kurisu, but erasing the paper. Saving Kurisu is not necessary, but since we are already changing stuff, why not try to save her too?

Not sure if you saw the episode 22 after credit scene off screen, but that helps the beginning of the episode make more sense. Couple things; think about how Suzuha describes the future now vs the alpha world line. Are they the same result or are they just both horrible? Second, this Suzuha and the one we spent most of the show with (Beta Suzuha for short) are not the same person. Last thing to think about, for Okabe only, is the D-Mail/Time Leap mechanic and physical time travel the same? Again, specifically for him.
