Update

Hello everyone!

We'd like to make a statement regarding the demo's delay:

First, all work done for this mod is done in the free time of each developer. This amount of time changes for each of us each day, the variance is immense. One week we’ll knock out several glaring issues and the next none of us are online. We saw what we could do at our best, and naively set our goals to that. This is one of our missteps as a team, and we have many others that aren’t exactly as cut and dry as setting ourselves unrealistic expectations.

Second, we all had that “just one more thing” and for a while none of us had the restraint to not push for our one thing. With all the extras getting pushed in, things that needed to get in were being left behind, and the new things started mudding what was demo content and what wasn’t. We then had to draw a line in the sand to keep or shelve things. Which lead to people pushing their one thing anyway, which lead to conflict and clashes in vision, tension in the team, and ultimately less getting done.

Third, poor communication. As said before, our volunteers work when they have time. Which leads to us asking a question of “is this done” and getting a “it was done a week ago” or “I thought X already did it” a day later. We’ve tried to implement light project management strategies to address this, but none have worked due to inexperience with those strategies. There exist several project boards out there for this project and none of them have an appropriate set of members to see and work on them. It’s getting better as time goes on and we adapt these strategies to the way we work, but it’s far from perfect, making predicting end dates for projects difficult.

Fourth, those darn play testers. They keep finding bugs, issues, inconsistencies, typos, and crashes. Which is great! But that does mean more time fixing it. At the time of writing, we have over 200 action items left to sort through. Some are simple, some are hurdles the greater community never approached, but we are trying to.  All of this to say, we really misjudged what we could do, and set an aggressive deadline for it. Working with this game is hard, working with people is hard, but we are working hard.

Demo is still a thing. At the moment it's at its 'final' phase of testing and it will come out whenever it's ready.

i'd love to wait as long as the mod is polished :)

Bungoloid

I'm fine with it as I still don't have a pc lmao

Well, I thought you guys would do the usual "we have to delay the demo again" post. And that was going to make me a little angry, because we've already been waiting for a few months since it was announced. But I understand it. In this case, this post has been good to provide explanations. Since we are more aware of the work it requires and allows us to have, now more than before, more patience knowing that it will arrive when it's ready. I'm glad to see that you guys are still working on this, because I know firsthand that people don't like problems and many tend to give up. Keep up and make good work, please :)

It's not as good as DS3 convergence but I will say that their custom bosses and weapons have amazing movesets, mixing DS3 elden ring and sekiro . But man they absolutely cannot balance a boss or new npc invaders for the life of them. Crazy HP and near constant one shots. Legit have to pull out cheat engine to have a fair ish fight . You can tell lots of effort went in but there's problems

I haven't even looked into his work when I found out his mod cost money. There's plenty of other people doing way better work for free

Dragoonman14

Gardens of eyes for me was buggy as all hell . So yeah , you're right.

Harry Hazza

Awesome honesty and transparency here . Take all the time you and your team need . You are doing something truly special and we'll be behind you guys till the end 👌👍 . Don't you dare go hollow and best of luck to you all .

Harry Hazza

Sad about another delay but it seems like you guys are trying to release the best version of the demo you can so we'll continue to wait. Keep it up guys

SardineCat

I will wait as long as it takes! I know the end product will be worth it! 💪

Thundergrass

Take your guy's time. I'd rather the mod be fully finished then half-baked like some I've played. I just started the dark moon mod for elden ring and it's so cool. I want you all to make a fantastic mod that is fully realized

Dragoonman14

It's a little frustrating to see this after garnering that expectation but I understand. You're doing good hang in there

Aether Veilborne

Take your time guys, cause knowing your hard efforts is enough the satisfy the majority of your community. You are giving new life to a game we know and love, so take all the time you need.

Danté King

I Prefer a polished/ love filled game over a rushed stressful game, Take as much time as you guys need, if it takes another year, then take another year, I count this Ultimate mod as "Dark Souls 4" A ultimate combination of all of the Eras of the flame and soul.

Dixie

Take time and keep up the good work this stuff looks great.

Kaiden Llewellyn

Just knowing that this amazing mod its being developed for free, thanks to your sheer passion and dedication is more than enough. The fact that you guys prefer to wait and release it when its actually ready says more about you than many AAA developers. Keep up the good work!

Mikel Gonzalez

Take all the time you need. We all see how many AAA games launch as a broken mess due to rushed deadlines. I would rather wait years for a solid experience than have a busted game now. Thank you for all the teams hard work.
