As for the constant mana suppression being a mockery of magic, rather than being about honour, I interpret it as being about magic as an art form, where mages love to develop and improve spells and hone their skills, some finding beauty in magic itself, whereas the only purpose of constant mana suppression is to deceive and kill demons - a mockery of Flamme and Frieren's love of magic, which is why Frieren may have fallen out of love with magic over time. I also just love the flashbacks to Flamme's time with the ancient Greek styles of clothing and buildings, and learning about Flamme and Frieren's relationship. I'm glad you noticed the earrings, it's a nice detail, and learning the flower field spell's origin was very nice. Now that was quite a ramble (I think I also tend to overuse commas), looking forward to setting off on the next leg of the journey!
