π 2 year journal flip through vid (patreon only)
Added 2024-08-16 06:27:13 +0000 UTChi friends, hope you've been well..! it feels like august is flying by...
here is a flip through of my journal from sept 2022 to june 2024.
it started as something just for reflecting and memory keeping, and then over time became more and more involved. my favourite thing about flipping through it is seeing my drawings become more detailed and colorful and intentionally placed in my entries. I also start to get more comfortable drawing certain loved ones in my life that show up frequently and that is it's own delight. It's a wrinkly and hefty booklet because the papers of the Stalogy notebook are very thin, not intended for paint and weathered quite a bit of trips and gluing in scraps and mementos- but I think that's part of it's charm too.
so much has happened in the 2 years that are contained in this book! I really feel a sense of nostalgia when I hold it in my hands.
I've thought about taking my favourite doodles and spreads and formatting a little zine out of it- but I haven't gotten around to scanning each individual page yet.. (a bit tedious for such a thick book right now...) we'll see if it ends up happening..
I'm already 27 pages into my new journal and feeling quite behind with coloring- but it's always been kind of a small joy of mine to use my journal as a way to cultivate my own little personal coloring book so I'm not too upset about it.
here are some quick pics for now, I anticipate I'll do a flip through when I'm finished this one as well- as I'm really enjoying the doodles I've already made so far in my entries

this time i'm using a hardcover Talons sketchbook (yellow again of course) which has thicker paper, similar to a Moleskine (but less expensive : p ) which fares better when I use my gouache and water based paints on it.
it's been such a joy to have this practice and space to reflect on my days and feelings- it really is only something that I do for me, but I'm glad I get to share some of it with you here in this space.
that's all for now, I hope you are all well and healthy
