we reacted to this on monday night and i was thinking more about it yesterday when i listened to it again. i thought it was interesting how in denial is a river, she's being kind of avoidant and it seems like she doesn't really want to face/talk about how she's feeling. i feel like the fact that she only briefly addresses certain topics before moving on (like we spoke about in the video) could tie into that idea, and maybe reflect being self-aware enough to acknowledge but unwilling to sit with/process her feelings and experiences. the songs being so short could tie into that too, orrrr maybe could be related to having too much on her plate and not enough time to think about all of it, which she references several times throughout. or all of this could be totally wrong π€·π»ββοΈ next week we're planning on doing a video where i will probably talk about this more. thank you for listening

Great to see some appreciation for this album, I absolutely love it and think Doechii has so much promise if this is where she is already. There is so much territory covered across this album (ahem, mixtape, whatever) and she's good in all these different modes, very impressive. One thing I really want to call out, "Skipp" feels like a tribute to Houston hip-hop/DJ Screw, sampling a slowed-down version of the classic Houston track "25 Lighters," which Megan and Kendrick and many others have also nodded to (Kendrick shouts it out on "Backseat Freestyle"). Would love to see you dip into some heavily regional scenes like 90s Houston and Memphis stuff in the future.
