June bonus story: W205
Added 2025-07-13 19:55:02 +0000 UTCThis one... man. I always have fun, but this one was FUN. This is the kind of fun I had writing Wesley Plunkett. (Not to say it will measure up, but just for what it's worth in terms of my own enjoyment.) It took me a good while to come up with a time loop concept, but I think we got something fun here, with a dash of heat, some giggles, some feels. Classic Ice Bear shit. No sense describing it since you're going to be trapped there looping through it for 20k words or so yourselves, but I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I like how Lakeview is becoming this hub of sexy phenomena, a mixture of mad science and inexplicable moral inquisition. It's a fun motif! And this was a fun story. In much the same way that Groundhog Day inevitably needed to drill into the sadness and longing inherent in its comedic premise, W205 needs to shed its couple-dozen pages of sexual fantasy to get at the need for self-reflection and emotional honesty that forms the basis of every Ice Bear story these days. (I don't... I wonder when the shift really was? It's an emphasis on *catharsis* that crops up as early as Tolerance, but it became practically a requirement sometime more recently. Food for thought!) There's plenty to like in the shifts to ever more bonkers setups, but there's more to *love* with an ending that tries to acknowledge the needs of the archetypes normally turned on and turned out by a story like this one. Far more memorable to try and escape the repetition and routine of depravity by opening a door to discovery. This was insanely hot, and enjoyably sweet. I feel like I say that all the time, but there're worse things to repeat.
