Course of Temptation June Monthly Update (v0.6.6)

Hello friends! The June update is here. This month's major features:

Writing books: You can now write, revise, and self-publish ebooks and earn a little passive income! In addition, if you're using the non-legacy save system, then books your characters publish will be available to other characters in your other saves!

NPC count slider: You can now increase the number of NPCs in your game up to four times the usual count, if you're using the non-legacy save system. That's about two thousand NPCs! Note that boosting this slider up all the way will create noticeable slowdown points even on the fastest devices (like a desktop PC!) so if you're not using a very capable device, take care with this setting.

Be a mascot: The college has gained a mascot through the efforts of Noonycurt and Hee Ho. This is essentially a new "sport" attached to football, with an all new set of events.

Weather: We've made a start on the weather system by creating a background weather simulation and giving some mild mechanical effects to temperature, including how it interacts with clothing. Note that weather itself currently doesn't have much mechanical effect, but things like this (wet clothes for instance) are in the works even as I write this. Also, a huge thanks to Drakon for making the new weather app actually look good.

If you're not aware, we're maintaining two parallel development cycles:

The monthly update might contain new event sets, new locations, or new mechanics, but usually focuses on extending existing content or polishing existing systems. It comes out once a month with whatever we got done in that time period... hence the name!

The roadmap update checks off one or more items on the roadmap, adding extensive new mechanics and a bunch of related new events in one go, often fundamentally changing how the game can be played. It usually takes multiple months.

Release notes

• You can now increase the number of NPCs generated for your world through a new slider in world generation options. This is only available if you have IndexedDB (the non-legacy save system) active. Be careful on slower devices, as it will affect performance as well as bloat save file size

• Sexual preferences for NPCs now have proper proportional sliders in world generation options, allowing for greater control

• You can now write books, with their quality dependent on your Writing skill

• Optionally, you can put effort into revising your finished book to eke some more quality out of it before publishing

• You can publish books in order to generate some daily passive income from sales. The better the book, the more sales you will get, naturally

• Also, published books become available on a new in-game website, Alakaz.on. Why would you buy your own book, you ask? You probably wouldn’t — but your books can be purchased by your other characters played in different saves! (Note that this cross-save data storage is only available if you have IndexedDB enabled)

• Added a new Mascot “sport” which, like cheerleading, is attached to football (contributed by Noonycurt with assistance from Hee Ho)

• New options and bugfixes for clothing, tattoo, hair, and various dorm items (contributed by Hee Ho)

• The UI now indicates in several places whether you’ve already talked to an NPC today (contributed by Noonycurt)

• Added a background weather simulation to begin gradually building out a whole seasons and weather system. Currently only temperature has a mechanical effect

• Clothing now has a warmth value, indicated in its description

• To dress for cold weather, layer warming items that cover you well

• To stay cool, opt for thinner items, fewer layers, and less coverage

• The outfits tab on the main wardrobe screen will indicate the temperature your character will feel under current outdoor conditions

• To see what kinds of conditions lie ahead, your phone now has a weather app with ten day and hourly forecasts

• Added new world seeds: waitalittle (most NPCs not into casual sex) and thankgoodness (most NPCs are kind) (contributed by Noonycurt)

• Nerdy NPC style overhauled with new outfits (contributed by Hee Ho)

• Many fixes and tweaks
