Course of Temptation Dev Diary #74

Hello friends! Does everybody know what time it is? That's right, it's dev diary time.

Over the last week I've been making some progress on the things identified as priorities in the last poll. Probably the most interesting is... midencounter events!

Like other event sets in the game, there is a base chance for any event to happen at all, and if that roll is passed, then the system picks a relevant event to fire. That event is then inserted into the middle of the encounter.

This example event involves the roommate's partner, which can have different options depending on your current situation with them.

In general, these events usually make an NPC a witness or involve a new partner joining in. By their nature, these events mostly involve the PC being in public or otherwise able to be caught, but it's possible to do much more with them. For example, maybe you get a phone call in the middle of things. As with most new systems, now that it's established, it becomes relatively easy to expand on it.

After writing a bunch of these events, I moved on to expanding NPC customization options, including pubic hair (how was this missing this whole time??), makeup style, tattoo style, and piercing style.

Currently, this is on the level of picking from the style sets that are available to NPCs rather than on the level of choosing individual tattoos, cosmetics, and so on. I would like to expand it to that too, but the data structure isn't currently set up for it, so it'll take a little more work.

Finally, as promised, I've started on more voyeuristic type events. Writing more of these will be my project for today as soon as I've posted today's dev diary.

Naturally, a lot of opportunism will be involved here, but I'd also like to write some events and systems that have the PC actively attempting to get some glimpses. I'm not quite sure how far I'll get with that before we hit early access in just a few days, but I'll do my best. Also, I'll likely do a bit more on this stuff on the way to public release.
