Course of Temptation Dev Diary #61

Hello friends! It is Friday dev diary time again.

It's release week, and prepping that (followed by bughunting) has taken up a fair amount of time this week, so mostly what I've been up to is covered by the November update's changelog. So this will be a short one.

This release touched a lot of different complex systems, so there have been a few issues to sort out. Luckily nothing major, and the bugfix release from last night (we're currently on 0.5.5d) sorted out a lot of it. Another bugfix release will come later today or tomorrow.

It's time, however, to get back to the River Rat update! I've decided to work first on the necessary widgets, code, and events for the management aspect of the job, plus the promotion system. These are basically the update's last major pieces, and all that will be left after doing that is fleshing things out a bit more and making sure it's properly filled out with events.

This is extremely work-in-progress, but you get the idea. You can upgrade the bar over time, which can have positive affects on your shift, as well as change the bar's clientele.

Different demographics have different inclinations and wealth levels, which can affect your tips or, you know, what you need to do to earn them.

In addition to working on these final systems, I also want to do another round of bartender events and flesh out that job type. On my nice-to-have list is a mini-storyline for the bar owner and event sets tied to specific upgrades (I won't spoil anything yet). Whether these can reasonably be scoped in at this time or will have to wait for a followup remains to be seen, but I'll do my best.

By next week, I think I will have the management and promotion stuff completed, which will give the entire career its structure. After that will be another round of event writing and filling in some gaps, then I'll see where we're at and where to go from there. But we'll definitely be in the very final stretch at that point.
