I've been posting a lot lately, haven't I?
First, I'd like to comment on how Dream Office is going, I really enjoy developing Dream Ofiice and how it's shaping up to be a plot with multiple options and consequences.
When I came up with the idea and started to develop it, I looked at the adult game scenario and realized that most of them were stories set in high schools and things like that, so I wanted to do something new something different. I believe that not only have I managed to do that, but we're growing more and more, but in my opinion we're growing too slowly and I'm having financial problems because of it. I was hoping to raise around 100 dollars in the first few months, I saw many other projects and they all managed to get there, while I'm working for almost a year on it and I'm getting less than half of that =/.
So I think Dream Office is more like a passion project than a market one, with a fraction of interested players... With that being said... NO I'M NOT GIVING UP ON DREAM OFFICE (Jeeezz calm down)... I'm thinking in starting a new project, and divide the month between them, so 1 release for each game per month. But why?
Dream Office has some issues, let's break them down.
1st: It's hard... It's very hard to have to create characters who will be used in 2 totally opposite routes and keep them with a personality that would be believable in both routes. (Now I understand why few games decide to put romance and corruption in the same game.)
2nd: Dream Office it's basically two games in one because of it's two main routes (Romance and Corruption), and many players choose only 1 route making them have to skip updates of the route they didn't choose.
So how do I fix it?
First issue fix: I believe that I can keep going with Dream Office with all these nuances, like being a more complex game with multiple routes, while I also create a more simple and streamlined game, It'll be much more easier writing characters specifically for one route then for 2 and keep them believable.
Second issue fix: I think that if I develop another game simultaneously with Dream Office, that focus only on Romance route and keep the developing of Dream Office only on the corruption side until it finishes it'll be much more easier and faster to develop. Then when I finish the corruption route and this new romance (only) project we invert, I resume developing Dream office romance route and a new project with only corruption route (And i have so many ideas for new games that I don't even worry about that).
Before I take any dramatic changes, for this month I will continue to develop the Romance route for Dream Office, and in the second half of the month I'll start to show you the development of this new game, which will be much less complex than Dream Office, but I believe it will be much more interactive, with the help of your ideas for characters and clothes.
Back to Dream Office v0.10
For the next update v0.10 we'll follow the Romance route were the MC choose to have sex with the Boss's Nemesis. This update and the next ones will cover the consolidation of the Nemesis romance, until moments before reuniting with Boss (just like the Boss routes until now).
Sorry for the scientific paper like post, but I really want to know what you think.
