Well, everyone, this was a wild month, we're sort of a week behind schedule, but we have arrived at a release candidate.
I can actually tell you that this won't be the finished link, there will be a new link on Friday night or Saturday morning. This is from yesterday, so today's work isn't reflected, but huge run-on sentence coming, we caught some things in the review we just did that need to be adjusted, it's going to be a late night because it's fiddly little stuff and I'm a perfectionist, but I didn't want to keep holding out, and I have this gut feeling that right now is going to be my last window of "maybe I can take a break" until I'm back from Seattle.
If you are coming to PAX this weekend we very much look forward to seeing you. I will be in Bandland with Film Joy as usual. I believe we are in the Summit again, Level 3, right by the escalators, across from the freeplay arcade. It'll be me, Mikey, Teara, and Crystal, we're there basically all weekend.

Dan I want you to know, if you ever read this, that I talk about your videos with the same passion I talk about my other hyper fixations and hobbies. I'm very autistic and have an awful attention span, but your ability to present and discuss your subjects has encouraged me to look into topics I'd have never thought to before as well as giving me a massive push to better present the way I speak. I'm also reading books again!

When he confronts a creative misfire that's upsetting--like a half-baked jingoist video game, or a bankrupt and bizarre anti-parody--he doesn't just fire up Bluesky and start posting. No, he takes his time. His retribution is measured, considered, methodical... and devastating. If I ever upset Dan in the ways that Call of Duty: Ghosts or Doug Walker's The Wall did, please point me to the nearest body of water so that I may walk straight into it.

2025-09-02 18:20:41 +0000 UTCAlso, while I will surely watch this video again when it releases, the extended history of the phrase “call of duty” feels extraneous and irrelevant, explicitly a product of sunk cost research. I think it would be better to either remove it, shorten it, or find a way to tie in the content to the broader thesis of the video.

Wish you had managed to put in my favorite synopsis of the plot you said during he q&a section “two brothers hunting down their dad’s ex boyfriend,” but I totally understand why you wouldn’t. I didn’t know you had a wife, but I hope she manages to free you from the nebulous force keeping you hostage- perhaps one explored in a future Call of Duty game.
