Lady Emily Reads Berserk - Chapter 372 Reaction

We're back! After a traditional Berserk four month hiatus between chapters, Berserk has returned with a chapter all about Casca. I'm SO excited to be back to doing this again and getting to talk about one of my favorite characters in the series. Check it out!

Something’s that’s cool about berserk is that there always a Dreamcast game called sword of the berserk that came out over 20 years ago which revealed that casca’s lack of memories was a dream like state. People debated it canonicity for decades but it was revealed to be right. So we’ve known the importance of dreams to casca for almost a quarter century because of a really bad Dreamcast game lol

The Young Hegelian

Yeah, I very much hope that this chapter is just about setting her plight, and she will be able to address and overcome it soon. I think its link to dreams is key though, and something about looking at the water in her hand.

I am kinda worried that after decades of casca being in a dream state, she’s going to be put back in one until near the end of the series. I want her to be a character again, although she does seem to have more agency in this state, which seems good

The Young Hegelian

My take on reading it is that Casca is being kept in a constant dreamlike state. When she first wakes, she thinks that Guts and her longing for him was just a dream. When she's in the bath, looking at the water she sees in the crew in the reflection, which pulls her out of her trance, she attempts escape, but falls back under it, falling asleep. The chapter ends with Irvine confirming that Casca is now back in her cage. I wonder if her time in the Corridor of Dreams will be key for her breaking out of the trance, which seems related to dreaming.

As daisy said rickert is with Silat (in the east) in a mountain place that Silat hinted is beyond the effects of the new world. My guess as to why Griffith is moving east is to snuff out the little resistance left. This is (I assume) how Griffith and rickert will come into contact again. Just my 2 cents

The Young Hegelian

I think Rickert has left Falconia to go to Silat's village in the mountains, so i don't think he'll be interacting with Casca anytime soon. I'm really curious about Casca interacting with Charlotte, actually. Charlottes was there during the attempt to rescue Griffith, and made an explicit note of recognising Casca from the days of the Hundred Year War, so theres an intersting possibility of Charlotte asking about, and learning more, about how exactly Griffith came back and what happened in the Eclipse.
