Hi hello how are you everybody? Good night

I look forward to the rest of this dark and fascinating tale.

Rebel Girl

i was a huge transformers fan as an 80s kid, had tons of figures, lots of the old comics, cartoons etc. it's like she put my amorphous feelings about this series into meaningful words. those old products were somewhat generic kids stories. good vs evil, friendship, laser guns, etc etc. They probably dont hold up... but at least they didnt have this weirdo shoehorning his bizarre world view into it.

I feel like if I had access to videos like this in my youth, I would want to become a film major, and then find myself incredibly disappointed when the instructors at the second or third rate school that I managed to get into failed to be even remotely as insightful as your work.

Fascinating! :O

I walked into a trendy DVD store (I'm old) in the trendy part of whatever city of whatever country I live in and it had a category shelf for "directors" with an implied "auteur" at the start of that. The only female director on the self that I could identify was Sofia Coppola. I was looking because I'm making a point of trying to watch films directed by women, as the only ones I could identify by name when flipping through my DVD collection (I'm old) were Mary Harron, Sofia Coppola and Christine Jeffs (A NZ director, she did the "Sylvia" biopic and a film called "Rain" that I liked). Anyway lately I've been trying to watch more films that are directed and/or written by women (because the above realisation agitated my conscience, and also because it gives me an excuse to watch "Clueless" {the greatest movie ever made} and "The brady bunch movie") and what I've found is that those that are directed, rather than just written by women, seem more authentic in depicting female experience (as best I can ascertain secondhand from women I've encountered out there in the world, and from art they've made that is less dude-controlled). The actresses look more comfortable, the films are funnier, edgier, when there's a woman at the helm, and there's a much better feel for tone. I mean generally films that are more aimed at women as their target audience -- the other discovery (but not a shock) is that though packaging of DVDs in a store tends to signal "chick flick" pretty clearly in hot pink, much of the time the director is a dude. Even something like "Legally Blonde" was directed by a dude, and I think that accounts for why it was so startlingly misogynistic in many scenes (with three really great scenes punctured throughout as counterpoint). Anyway I drank some gin, I hope I'm at least on the margins of being on point, I don't know anymore, and I have to go pick up my laundry.
