(Updated) GM and News Director Leaving CBS O&O Today

A big shake-up is going down at this CBS O&O, as the station will lose its General Manager and News Director today (actually Friday, as this story is going out to FTVLive Patrons early).

Back in October, KOVR/KMAX (Sacramento) General Manager Deborah Collura announced to the staff that News Director Pete Saiers would be leaving the station in early January.

This was the internal memo that was sent to the staff at the time.

But, there is a big wrinkle in the exit of Saiers.

While Saiers is expected to work his last day, today, Collura announced yesterday that today will also be her last day as well.

Collura joined the station 4 years ago, and while her memo from a couple of months ago seemed to imply that she was finding a new news boss and sticking around, that is not the case.

As FTVLive has reported, CBS has been sending GMs packing and has been placing GMs at other CBS O&Os in charge of two stations or more.

At the time I'm writing this story, CBS has made no official announcement, but I would bet that KPIX (San Francisco) General Manager Scott Warren will also be named the person in charge at KOVR/KMAX as well.

This plays right into CBS's plan of gutting GMs and their large salaries and having one GM oversee more stations.

There was a time when you never thought the GM job was just a part-time position, but that is certainly the case these days....at least at CBS.

UPDATE: Two hours after I published this story, CBS sent out a press release confirming exactly what I predicted would happen.
