FTVLive has told you how Tegna gave out year end bonuses to people at only 11 of Tegna's 64 stations.
Tegna CEO Mike Steib held a teams call and named the 11 markets that would be getting a $1500 "merit" bonus, despite the fact that most Tegna staffers don't know what the "merit" was based on?
FTVLive has heard from several Tegna staffers and while many are voicing their anger in Steib's direction, some are pointing fingers at others in management.
"Chief among them is Adrienne Roark, who should have recognized immediately that the bonus decision was a catastrophic mistake—and stopped it. Instead, she did what she has consistently done: said yes, protected her own position, and let station employees absorb the fallout," said one insider to FTVLive.
"Now, rather than taking accountability, Roark appears to be leading a quiet witch hunt—searching for employees who dared to speak out and attempting to exact retribution." the insider added.
It's clear that Instead of addressing legitimate concerns, corporate leadership seems far more focused on silencing dissent.
Mike Steib has been in over his head from day one. He arrived with the confidence of a self-styled visionary, convinced he could singlehandedly usher Tegna into a brighter future. It has been a failure.
The insider finished with this, "It’s clear Tegna’s board has shown little interest in the people who actually generate the company’s value. But if they are capable of one meaningful gesture—one final holiday gift—it would be this: remove Mike Steib and Adrienne Roark before they inflict further damage."
