Tegna Stars Flagging Employees Who Spoke Out

On Friday, in a Patron Only story, FTVLive told you about the absolutely ridiculous system that Tegna used to hand out year end bonuses.
Of the 64 stations that Tegna owns, only employees at 11 Tegna stations were given bonuses and no one knows why those 11 stations were chosen.

It was a cluster fuck that ended up pissing off many Tegna employees.
Tegna CEO Mike Steib got on a TEAMS meeting with the staff, trying to look like Alex Hormozi and gave a big congrats to the 11 stations who got bonuses.

Many staffers commented about how unfair the bonuses were and some took direct shots at Steib. Here's a small example.

This is where it goes from bad to worse.
Several Tegna employees tell FTVLive that many of the Tegna employees who commented on the teams chat about holiday bonuses has been flagged by corporate. News directors across all stations are being told to call their employees who commented.
"The messaging is we’re not going to force you to delete your post but your name is being flagged and we wouldn’t want it to jeopardize your future with the company," said one Tegna employee to FTVLive
"Comments are being deleted left and right. You can even see it in teams where it says “this message has been deleted” down the line," the staffer added.

Think about that....
A media company which runs news departments is basically censoring the employees inside the company.
"The Tegna bonus disaster should be a wake-up call to the board. Major changes are needed now, or the company will face far bigger problems in the new year. And if shareholders are unclear about what’s wrong, let’s be blunt: employees at the station level have no faith in corporate leadership," said another Tegna insider to FTVLive.
"The way this was handled removes any doubt: Steib is not fit to lead. Full stop." the insider adds.
FTVLive will have more on this story this week.
