Fired in Sioux City

Viewers in Sioux City are not happy after the firing of a popular morning meteorologist at the Gray station.

Making the matter worse, no one is sure as to why he was canned.

Gray's KTIV parted ways with Jacob Howard. Howard was popular with viewers and has a fairly large social media following.

Many rumors are going around about how he lost his job, but the station isn't saying anything.

"From what I hear, he was on the air telling people to stay home because the weather was bad, but then he went to the bar. However, he lives in downtown Sioux City," said one station insider to FTVLive.

Since the station is remaining mum on the topic, the rumors will continue to fly.

Some viewers are voicing their displeasure on social media.

This isn't the only issue at KTIV, many inside the station point to the General Manager, Bridget Breen.

The people that we have talked to, associated with KTIV say there was a point when Breen was what they said was a solid GM. A couple of people described her as "power hungry" and there is another issue that rankles many inside the station.

"She favors her husband, Matt Breen, the station's longtime main anchor. Their two children also work at the station. Some in the community believe Bridget will give her daughter Jacob's job," said one station insider to FTVLive.

Sioux City is not a big market, can you image having four people at your station who are all in the same family and one of those people is the General Manager?

No matter what the true story maybe, the perception is certainly and issue. Here is a portion of a post on social media, that makes some interesting claims. "It's accurate," says a person that worked on air at KTIV.

As we said, true or not, the perception is real for sure. There is a reason that so many companies have nepotism clauses in place.

As for the bounced meteorologist?

He hasn't said anything yet.
